With all the hype.. just 38 tackles and 2 sacks in 2 years? Why was he such a big get?

Composite high 4*, rated a 5* by scout, top 50 nationally, one of the biggest recruits to come out of Hawaii, played dt in the big 12 pass happy league where dt's don't make all of plays, provides adequate depth on the d-line. Is there anything else you want to know????!

He played on an awful "defense" with probably zero coaching getting him better.

Wait until O gets ahold of him and he could be a monster next year.

Best defensive player, drew lots of attention and double teams.

Never a bad thing to have defensive line depth. Especially experienced d line depth.

That's 38 tackles and 2 sacks more than Marvin Wilson

The bigger question is "why Texas Tech"? Literally could have played anywhere in the country.

I understand the OPs concern.

No next year. This year is this season. Next year is next season. Like this weekend and next weekend.

He had no talent around him. He was double teamed on every play. He goes to LSU where he has deep talent around him and the double teams go away. He starts making more tackles and goes to the NFL the same year that he would have had to go if he stayed at Texas Tech. Plus he will make more money due to increased performance.

You really can't judge an interior DL by tackles and sacks.

He's a big body with a starting pedigree in a P5 conference, and will add immediate depth. And if he didn't choose us he'd have chosen Auburn or Georgia.

Should be obvious why this was a nice pick up.

Fair question OP. I did not remember his recruitment either when the possibility first popped up of him coming to LSU. I also did not see dominate play that 5* should have. He seemed to ride people to the ground when tackling and did not provide a lot of push at the point of contact.

However, he supposed to be a pretty strong young man who seems to have good mobility for his size. Plays with a lot of energy and passion.

Ultimately, I believe our defense is better for him because he can use his strengths at 3-4 DE rather 4-3 DT. That will allow him to slash more and make plays. His size and strength should help him set disrupt running lanes as well.

Glad to have him here at LSU.

He probably wasn't being developed to play at the next level so he wanted to come to a real DL university where he could be developed into a premier DL...he's got the tools...TT just didn't develop/use him right. Smart kid to realize that.

Do I start the Valentine-like hype this season or next season?
