and then had to sit on the bench for his 4th year.
No shame in sitting behind someone who is better

I gotta go with JR. It was fun to see him sling the ball down the field.

I would nominate Hodson but reality is Herb Tyler is my favorite LSU QB of all-time.
It is tough for me to choose between Bert Jones and Herb Tyler. I also like both Matts - Mauck and Flynn, Flynn probably a little better.

quote:Agreed. Hodson was not the QB that Russell and Davey were.
Seeing all the Hodson love, I feel that I missed something. For some reason, he doesn't stick out in my memory ... kind of lumped together with guys like Wikersham, Risher, Guidry, Woodley, etc. His exploits must've resided in some of my brain cells that fell victim to to Whiskey back in the day.

Matt mauk and davey are my all time favorites. I will never forget mauk running wild on teNnessee off the bench in the second championship game

Bert Jones with Tommy Hodson closely behind him for second favorite. They were truly awesome to watch. They both had such great command of the offense and flow of the game. Both beautiful pure drop back passers. Jones could scramble and run pretty damn well when he had to.

I agree. Nelson Stokely reminded me of Joe Montana. Never the greatest at anything, but he just got it done. Great decisions and always seemed to make the critical throws.

How many of the QBs mentioned had any records/championships.
I think Hodson had about all the passing records when he left. Davis was his only wide receiver that had an NFL career, even though it was cut short by injuries. Rabb, Mauck, and Flynn had NCs.

I'll never really understand all of the love for Mauck. He was arguably the worst player on our 2003 NC team.

definitely rohan, who, matter-of-factly, I saw with his daughter in Albertson's on Airline and Old Hammond the other day.
