ORLANDO, Fla. -- The father of the 12-year-old boy bumped by Celtics big man Glen "Big Baby" Davis after Sunday's game-winning shot is demanding an apology.

Ernest Provetti told the Orlando Sentinel that he wrote the NBA office demanding an apology from Davis for acting like a "raging animal with no regard for fans' personal safety." NBA spokesman Tim Frank confirmed the league received the e-mail but declined to comment on it.

Well the father shoudl have not let his kid get that close. He was way out of his seat. If I was Big baby, I would apologize, but also send a signed ball with the final score on it, just as a dig.

If I was this father, I would be embarrassed to ask for an apology. Big Baby barely did anything, unless I missed it.

This is ridiculous, thats gonna happen when you buy the most expensive tickets to a playoff game, bring your spoiled brat kid, and he stands on the court after a game winning shot is made. And anyone who says he was "standing out of bounds"...HELLO?!? out of bounds is on the fricking basketball court, tell that kid to sit his a** down in his seat

all that being said, Big Baby apologizing would show class and it wouldn't hurt.

I still dont get this...If a father can afford to bring his son courtside to a playoff game he is a spoiled brat...

So, if you could afford to bring your son to the National Championship game if LSU was playing, you wouldnt bring him because that would make him a spoiled brat?

For the price of those tickets, yes. It's a pretty safe assumption.

If they were Celtic fans, you can bet your arse the father wouldn't complain. Sore losers.

All those expensive seats are too close to the court. When they stand up they're right on top of the court. Blaming a kid for standing up in that situation is pretty stupid.

It's equally stupid to fault Davis and demand an apology. There's really no fault here and no big deal.

I'd let Big Baby stiff arm the shite out of me for court-side playoff seats. This dude should be thanking Baby for the experience the 15 minutes of sportscenter highlight fame.

the dad has no idea how embarassing this is for him and his son....shame on the dad....he could have taught his son a valuable lesson on how not to be a pussy...if he were my son i would have told him to suck it up and try not to cry because that's what men do but too bad the kid on the sidelines will grow to be a wuss that complains about every little thing....i guess i was raised a little different...i had three older brothers and older friends whom played and fought rough and i learned quickly not to bitch and complain and taddle like a little ferry.....Since the kid's dad can afford the most expensive playoff tickets to the Mavs game, i willing to bet the kid's pretty dam spoiled by his parents.....based on the size of the kid, he obviously doesn't get to play outside too often and is probably homeschooled....i think any normal kid who's not a fat-arse and not spoiled rotten and who's been through some obstacles in life would have just sucked it up and not cried about it....i can't believe the father is carrying this thing out this far....what is he teaching the kid?..son, if anybody under any circumstances accidentally shoves you in any way ever, i want you to cry about it and if you can, call the police and then we'll see if we can sue...the worst thing to ever teach your son is to suck it up and move on...that would be teaching him to be a MAN...too bad based on the dad's actions, the dad isn't a MAN yet, either...

I'm sure the kid is bragging about it to all his friends. His Dad seems to be the jerk for demanding an apology.

If the seats are too close to the court...then don't sit there??? Someone didn't force them to sit courtside, they choose to. Sit in the stands and save a few bucks if you dont want the chance of getting run into by a player.

Anybody that DEMANDS an apology for someone else... especially if there was no harm, is just a douche fairy.

As I said on MSB
the dad probably tried to handle it privately and it did not work so he went to media. Media is blowing this out of proportion at the same time and dad is enjoying his 15 minutes.

Big Baby is an adult and he pushed a kid in a moment of enjoyment. He should not be told to apologize he should want too, by not doing so says alot. He was 1 step into the court and is 12/13 years old.

Apologize for what? Davis barely touched the kid, the kid wasn't harmed in any way. Most important of all, this was not an intentional shove, it just happened in the heat of battle after a dramatic, game-winning shot. Tell the dad and kid to sit further back from the court if they're so worried about physical contact with the players. Freakin' dad's a pantywaist.

I'm betting the angle here is for dad and kid to get free tickets to another game, an autographed shirt from Davis and 15 minutes of fame on ESPN. Cash in on the thing.
