Mid 80's, McNeese had a big left handed black guy that hit one over the lights in right center. It was a midweek game, and back when the lights weren't nearly as bright. The ball just disappeared! It probably wasn't the farthest ball ever hit, but it was the highest at the point it cleared the fence that I ever saw.

Joey Belle hit a walkoff against Miss State that went way over the centerfield batters eye.

Two guys who hit bombs further than any I have ever seen were Lyle Mouton and Rich Cordani. I was quite a bit younger, but I seem to remember Mouton hitting the married student housing on the reg, I also remember a couch on the roof where people would watch the games. Also I remember Cordani blasting one over the light pole in right center against either USC or Fullerton in one of those classic regional games.

No one is mentioning that blast Katz ripped into CF during the regional? That thing was a monster and the only time anyone has ever hit dead center field with these bats. If he had the 97 bats he would have killed someone.

I was there for Eibners and it was ridiculous. It wasn't a no doubter, it was a aww shitter

I was there when Brad Wilkerson hit his shot. Later heard it bounced several time and hit the Admin building. The longest shot I saw at the old box was hit by Lyle Mouton. He did not hit it on the married dorms but it was a moon shot. He also hit one at Rosenblatt that was dead center and over half the way up the flag pole. To my knowledge no one ever hit one on the roof of the married dorms.

Maybe some old timers can verify this but I was talking sometime back to a friend who played football back in the late 60s/early 70s who remembered a teammate - Gerald Keigley - who also played baseball - who he said hit the apartments with a HR once.

Did Jacque Jones hit towering shots or just a bunch of HRs in that regional when USC was here? It wasn't against lsu.

Wilkerson was definitely the farthest I ever witnessed. I only remember one bounce before it hit the athletic admin building. That could be completely inaccurate but it definitely cleared Nicholson with ease.

In 1975, a guy from either florida or ole miss (can't remember) hit the married student housing on one bounce. I'm sure there are some other life long tiger baseball fans on here that witnessed this and can remember the team. never seen anything like it.

The ball Mahtook hit over the scoreboard during a midweek game was a moonshine. I was calling that game for KLSU radio

C'mon man. That's a stretch.

It's always hilarious to see how many people "remember" guys hitting home runs into the married student housing in these threads. You'd think every good to great power hitter to ever hit at Alex Box hit one over there. That was WELL over 500 feet away from home plate, if anyone is wondering.

Caleb Adams hit one out dead center in the same regional.
