Fans leaving early - Notre Dame comparison

So I’m a lifelong fan of LSU and have heard complaints about fan leaving early for years. I’ve seen it at the one game I’ve been to vs Arkansas (the state in which I live but hate the team) in 2015. Shortly after half, a third of the stadium had left. Ive always just brushed off complaints as overdone because traffic and gameday experience deteriorating, yadayada. However, I currently go to Notre Dame and I noticed at yesterday’s game that despite beating UNM 66-14 and running up the score all game, no one left in swarms until like a minute left in the game. The students especially always stay the whole game through.
So I don’t get it... is fans leaving early a common thing and ND just does better at it (maybe cuz smaller capacity and fans fly in from far away?) or does LSU genuinely have a problem?
Feel free to downvote cuz previously discussed or ND or whatever, but I’m genuinely curious as to what this problem looks like across all colleges

I saw Bama made all their students download a app so they can track them at the games if they leave early. Big brother i mean saban is watching them!

That’s an incentive thing they’re doing. Those who stay get points towards something related to school or sports. Bama making chess moves as usual.

It's part of the "culture" at LSU football games now! The student body is into more social things other than athletics nowadays; for a large part. Corporate groups have taken over tickets, and the old time diehards like quite a few of us have been priced out of buying tickets! Just one old alum's opinion (Class of 1970!) GEAUX TIGERS!

I understand why people leave early on a very hot night when the game is essentially over.
I don’t understand why people leave early in a tight hard fought game.

The app is voluntary for the students and there is no penalty if they don't download the app or if they leave games early. The tracking feature of the app can be disabled after each football game is over and can be enabled for the start of the next football game.
Having the app allows the students to earn points if they stay until the end of games. The points accumulate as part of the allocation process for post-season student football tickets.
Students with more points get first chance to buy post season (SEC Championship, bowl & playoff games) football tickets.
I actually think it's a pretty good system to reward students who support the team during the games.

When you
1: Pay the effectively $200 per ticket for me -AND-
2) Get me a helicopter flight outta post-game traffic chaos/horrendousness.
THEN I'll hear you out
Otherwise, I can't hear you.

The Fourth ranked team in the nation and there was gaps all over the seating at the beginning of the game. LSU has a solid Heisman candidate in Joe Burrow. May never see the likes of him again. When half-time came along the fans headed for the exits. I felt bad for the players.
The players on the field were giving it their all. A lot of the fans sitting in the stadium? Not so much.
I'm thinking some potential recruits pick up on that.

Yeah and I think it’s of concern and can be avoided. ND students show up superrr drunk but they stay the whole game. They’re not gonna go do anything better cuz the best thing they could spend their time doing is rooting for their top ten football team from a legendary stadium in the student section (which doesn’t last forever!). So why can’t LSU students come to the same conclusion? Seems to be a culture issue

The very next thing they need to do to keep ppl in the stands is a massive overhaul of the wi-fi system. It needs to work, REALLY good, throughout the stadium. More people will be inclined to stay if they can check scores, stats, watch other games, etc.
Until thats upgraded big time I don't want to hear anyone who represents LSU mention attendance or duration of butts in the seats.

I also find it ironic that people that are watching the game on TV are criticizing the ones, like me, that are in the stadium.

I’d agree with this. I was there in the post NC years for every game, and you saw the life slowly sucked out by Les and the close ugly games against bad teams. Now it’s commonplace

Other than Bama at home no one is priced out for tickets. People were selling tickets for 10$ yesterday or giving them away.
