Exactly. Our offense in 2011 was productive. Its a shame we had to beat bama twice that year.

RickDaddy4188 If you think 2011 had a better than average offense that's fine. Don't let stats blinds you son. That offense was very hard to watch. Defense and special teams helped them out big time.

If that offense wasn't average why did we have 97 total yards & 0 pts? Did not get into field goal range that's SWAC ball vs the SEC.

If an offense is worth a chit you will score at least 1 td. I mean could not cross the 50. No first downs in a whole half of football.

Why did you pour salt on this old wound?

I have to go with offense, I do like a great defense but nothing worse that watch 3 and outs when we get the ball. I go offense because just like last year NCG you have to be prepared for a shoot out. In light of our pathetic offensive showing in the 2011 season NCG, I go with having an outstanding offense who can light it up when its needed.

Honey Badger basically won the SEC championship game. Our offense had zero 1st downs in the 1st half, which was a bad omen of things to come in the next game. Still is haunting to think about.

Im not. Our 2011 offense was easily above average.

No it wasnt. Youre lettimg the UGA and bama game cloud your memory of our 2011 offense.

And they hurt our offensive totals. We routinely started at mid field.just because our offense wasnt as good as the defense and special teams, it doesnt mean our offense was average.

Because we were playing the best defense in cfb history for the 2nd time that season. There are many good offenses in the past that that bama team wouldve shut down.

One game doesnt erase an entire season of good offensive play. Ive never understood why posters on here only think we have productive offenses if we move the ball on bama. They are the #1 defense in the country for a reason.

The 205 yards rushing and 4 offensive tds didn't hurt. People forget that UGA was a top 5 defense as well.

2 games doesnt outweigh the entire regular season of our offense producing.

We passed for 20 tds and ran for 35 tds. We had 18 1st downs in every game except 1 during the regular season.
You cant call an offense average just because they were bad in 2 games.
Those are great offensive numbers.

Here's where I suffer from your opinion.

You look at the end result for the year and decide if an offense was 'above average'. The problem with that, above average offenses can't be completely shut down at times imho.

2011 was shut down at times. As was 2015. The only offenses of the miles era that could really score at will were 07 and 13, and 06 save the auburn game. Every other team was completely shut down at some point.

Most of the time, they are just too inconsistent to be considered above average. That's like, my opinion man tho.

What? Above average offenses most definitely have bad games. Above average offenses would struggle against the best bama defense ever.

we were shut down for 1 damn game during the regular season.
Even elite defenses get shut down during the regular season.

I guess those great oregon defenses werent above average either since they would always have a game where they didnt produce well.

Neither one of the the 07, 2013, and 2006 teams face a defense anywherre near what 2011 bama was.

Every offense has bad days.

Yeah because in 2011 we played one of the hardest schedules in cfb history and had 35 rushing tds and 20 passing tds. Its clearly better than average.

I would say 1/9/12 was a little more than a 'bad day' lol.

Bamas defense was pretty Damn stout the past two years, and they didn't shut down clemson, Ohio st, or ole miss. Hell, even a&m scores points against them.

I'm sure we just have different definitions of 'above average', and that's okay.

The past 2 defenses are no where near 2011. No team moved the ball well against them except using the option.

Prob. It subjective as it gets.

I know the defense and special teams were the better phases.

Probably so, but one thing about 2011 Bama is it was never tested. It didn't have to play any of the spread or HUNH teams that Saban struggles against. LSU's defense was tested more than Bama's that year that's why I say LSUs defense was better.

did not read this, but have read many like this before. always so dumb. Of course you want to be the best you can be on both sides of the ball.

But the big take away form these sort of threads are how many people think you can't be elite on both sides of the ball as though if your defense is too good it somehow hurts your offense

But particularly if your offense is really elite by definition your defense will suffer

Rick Daddy

I want to make sure I got this right.

The only 2 teams Lsu played with a top 10 defense in 2011 uga & bama Lsu above average offense should've struggled because their opponents defenses were elite.

Okay Got It!!!

Uga granted Lsu wore them down in the second half and ran it down their throats, but in the 1st half 8 3 & outs not 1 1st down. The team finished with 30 yds passing thank god Lsu had an elite defense & special teams.

Bama 01/09/12 I rest my case.

There is not one above average offense that would go 3 & out 8 straight drives.

There is not one above average offense that gets held under 100 yds total offense, have trouble getting pass the 50 yd line and be held scoreless.

An above average offense will move the ball on any team regardless how great an opponents defense is.
