We need senior leadership and I think they need another year to grow / develop.

I might get blasted for this...but it might better if both just leave. They both should stay but considering how overrated they have been it might be better for the young guys to get more PT to develop earlier. Might be worth it to have growing pains there. I have my doubts either one of them will show big improvement next year. Then again, looking at DT depth it ain't exactly pretty right now. Pretty sure Gilmore/Bain aren't going to be ready next year. Don't know what Mickey Johnson is doing lately but obviously not much.

Freak should go. Ego should not. No matter what we think Freak is still grading out pretty high it seems. Ego definitely will help his situation by staying another year..

If they are not ready next year, LSU is in deep sh*t.

They both were not good this year or at least what they could have been so they need to come back

Freak has been playing on a bum knee since week one of the season. The rest of this post is my opinion, but there's a chance he has it repaired after the season and skips the draft. We need him next year, and in our system of rotating DTs he wouldn't be holding anyone else's development up substantially. With Ego I think he's been picking up Freak's slack more than anything, and it'll all depend on his draft grade. I would go apeshit if neither declares.

when I think of AJ, won't call him Freak since he hasn't earned it, i always remember to a interview in pre season where he calls out the Dline and said he hopes the production will be there because he said word for word "imma get mines, i know i will, i just hope everyone else steps up"

he hasn't gotten shite other than hype

Yea, I've heard about that injury+his arm. I'm wondering if that's a big reason he hasn't been that great this year. I agree with above poster, Ego has made more plays but earlier in the season Johnson was getting all the double teams. Now it seems to have evened off a bit.

I think it's the reason. The drop off from last year has been huge. I was told he can't even walk after games. I really hope he gets it taken care of and comes back for a monster senior year.

yep, i think its safe to say the freak stuff should be dropped until production is raised if he comes back next year.

they should both return but who knows what they do.

They should both comeback but I would say their percentages to return are:
Freak = 30%
Ego = 65%

I actually thought the same. Both should come back, and Ego has played better of the two no doubt, but it could be possible that they just may not turn out how we thought they would regardless of another year. Hopefully guys like Bain, lacouture, and Gilmore take major strides going into their sophomore year along with a few incoming freshman.

Freak and Ego should both stay. Neither are ready for the NFL. However, both of them will grade high because of size, altheticism and potential. Lately, we have had a difficult time getting key guys to stick around for the final year. For these reasons, I believe they both declare. This does not bode well for our defense next season because once again we will be rotating in a group of inexperienced and unproven D-linemen.

The issue is that they have shown poor growth over the last 3 years......that knocks the potential item.

I suspect the best for AJ would be low 4th right now.
