Nathan Peterman at Pitt wasn't a dual threat and that was his best offense ever statistically

If LSU could get a legit dual threat, yes, he would love 1. But what I have seen the last several years from LSU DT QB's is run/no pass, no run/no pass, & no run/halfassed pass.

And until we get 1 or develop 1, we will continue to struggle in any offense, not just Canada's.

I don't think dual thread or pro style matters to Canada. What he needs is a guy who understands the offense, executes it well, and makes great decisions. After that, pocket passer or dual threat, Canada will call plays to his signal caller's advantage.

Doesn't need? Maybe. Doesn't want? Uh no. If LSU can hold on to Canada long enough, Brennan's successor Will be a dual threat QB.

Narcisse could beast in this system...Not sure how well he throws. Idk if he'll beat out Brennan in that category

Dual threat QB vastly opens up the playbook. That's the type of QB he is recruiting as we speak.

I hope Narcisse is a good passer as well as a runner. You can be the best runner in the country and not be able to win anything. How many run first QBs win national titles? I do hope Narcisse stays from what I've read and heard about Brennan he won't be here past his Junior season he's an NFL QB so if Narcisse is patient he'll get 2 full seasons as our starter assuming a younger player doesn't pass him up. I need to clarify what my original stance was, I don't mind duel threat guys like Deshawn Watson what I'd hope we avoid are run first QBs like a Woody Danzler or Pat White.

You're right terrible isn't the right word avg to below avg is more appropriate, although Etlings numbers jumped to over 140 after Ogeron took over last season so he was noticeably more efficient than Brissett in a much more constricted offense.

Well, I mean perfect would probably be everything MB is plus better running and slightly bigger. But, perfect is hard to come by.

No argument there.

People say this but I think that would be VERY premature. QBs that "look" like the starter flame out all the fricking time. And there's literally NOTHING between Narcisse and the job other than Brennan. It's not like transferring is a guaranteed start elsewhere unless you go to Podunk U.

Agreed as far as "you never know". But when Narcisse has spent the entirety of the fall, running nothing but Wildcat and scout team, while Brennan takes all of the 2nd team reps, that doesnt make much of a competition.

That's conjecture and frankly, wouldn't make any coaching sense.

Any coach with half a brain know what I already wrote above. They know you can't just assume Brennan will be successful.

There's no reason to believe that they aren't pressing Narcisse as much as Brennan. Any good coach knows competition in practice is a very healthy thing.

ShortyRob - you are ON POINT. I wish it were conjecture. And youre right, it makes no coaching sense. I agree. ANY GOOD COACH KNOWS...

The thing is, that QB has never been made. Hall of Fame QBs have gotten by with only three of those attribuutes. So yes, a dual threat QB would be great. But it’s hard to find dual threat QBs who have all those other attributes. Inevitably you

Man our standards are low. Baker Mayfield, Deshawn Watson (Clemson last year), Shea Patterson (Ole Miss), etc... We just have to sign a couple.

Canada is going to want a passer first. In other words he wants a QB that can run, not a runner who can pass.
Tebow/Manziel type. Fitzgerald at MSU.

Shea Patterson would be killer here under Canada.

Brennan will be as well with another year to gain more weight. He's more DT than people think.

Gotta get that OL situation fixed for 2018 though (New Coach) and then we'll see what happens..........

That’s false. They just had one of the top dual threat QB’s in the country visit the school during auburn game.

He was at Pitt briefly and in that time he recruited dual threat QBs

Justin Fields, Justin Rogers, and Jarren Williams (all dual threats)

Is anyone expecting Canada to be here if/when those guys are ready to contribute (if they sign with LSU)?

For a DT, is this an indictment on Narcisse, a sign that he's transferring after the season or an indication that Miles Brennan isn't athletic enough to run Canada's offense they way he'd like to (see Shea Patterson). I know he's not on Patterson's level as a runner, but he's no slouch either.

was Brissett a real Dual threat?.. I think the last true dual threat he had might have been at northern Illinois... I think one poster said it right.. He wants a true QB that is mobile. not a running QB that can throw.. Justin fields would have been huge.. I still think it is a mistake for him to go to Georgia when he could easily beat out Brennan here and start for 3 years.. (and I really like Brennan) great quick release and will def be successful because of his accuracy. You can just do more with a kid like Fields.. its not even close..

I hope so. I have no problem with a two QB system whatsoever.

Someone once said if you have two quarterbacks you don't have one, but I don't buy that. As long as each guy knows his role and both are versatile enough to be unpredictable based on personnel, I think it could be extremely successful here with those two guys.

Plus, it's probably the only way to keep both on campus until they either graduate or go pro.

Dual threat is good in any system. Would be awesome in canadas.

We haven't had a threat of any kind lately, certainly not a dual threat.
