I know that this term is met with some ire when it comes to LSU, but with Canada's system do you think it would work for LSU? I know we have Brennan taking over the program next year, and he seems to be more Pro-Style, but do you think Canada will keep trying to recruit Dual Threat as long as he is here?

I think he want's to continue to speed up this offense, and make it more explosive.

I bet Canada really prefers a dual threat QB. It expands what he can do as a play caller.

I'll be happy with a qb that is just a threat.

He would kill with a dual threat and a good o line, but even with danny’s issues, he’s still making him look like a competent QB

40ppg last year at Pitt with a pocket passer. Canada doesn't want or need a duel threat QB Brennan will be perfect for his offense and Etling is just fine.

yep.

Despite what the rant says Canada's system is working to a degree, is confusing some of the D some of the time, and has been pretty good at setting up some big plays.

So with that in mind, I dream of a DT with him. And while tougher mentally on the OL (and everybody else) it could help them immensely.

One caveat: Canada is going to want a passer first. In other words he wants a QB that can run, not a runner who can pass. A simplistic, but for the most part accurate, way to look at it is he uses the pass to setup the run, but runs more than he passes.

Look at the QBs the staff really giving the most attention to in recruiting.... Fields, Bohanon, and Justin Rogers. All are dual guys.

Good point. The recruiting trip this weekend was huge for Bohanon. Hopefully the allure of Tiger Stadium stuck with him after that game.

Justin Fields, Justin Rogers, and Jarren Williams (all dual threats) have been the staffs primary targets. They've offered both PP and DTs. It just seems like they have spent more recruiting efforts on Dual threat guys.

With all the motions that make it tough to stop the Rb runs between the tackles just think what a DT qb would do to defenses ? Etling would have had 100 yards on UF if he could run. I hope we land the Bohanan kid. Myles may be our best qb next year but when he and LN battle it LN keeps it close as far as command of the O and can make some throws as well he may win the job

Yep it's Brissett and he was terrible in college. Compare his stats to Petersons or some of Canada's other pocket QBs and you'll see his offense is better with a traditional signal caller.

Terrible?? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacoby_Brissett

5200 yds passing in 2014 and 2015 43 TD 11 ints 800 yds rushing.

Canada at NCSTate

"In 2015, the Wolfpack averaged 412.8 yards per game -- the fifth-highest average in school history --despite losing leading rusher Matt Dayes (108.1 yards per game) to injury for the final five games. NC State led the Atlantic Coast Conference and ranked 11th nationally in time of possession (33:03).

In 2014, NC State racked up its highest rushing total since 1977 with 2,659 yards. The Wolfpack averaged 6.0 yards per offensive play, the second highest mark in school annals. Brissett thrived as a dual threat under Canada's watch in 2014 and 2015 as he combined to throw for 5,268 yards to go with 43 touchdowns. He also added nine rushing touchdowns during that span.

Brissett was one of just three Power 5 conference quarterbacks in 2014 with at least 2,000 passing yards, 300 rushing yards, 20 passing TDs and five (or fewer) interceptions. The others were Oregon Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and UCLA's Brett Hundley."

His QB rating was around 130 roughly 30 points lower than Petersons and 10 points lower than Etlings. Etling is more efficient and Petersons numbers blow him out of the water. Again compare his numbers to Canada's traditional QBs and you'll see his offense is more effective with the latter under center.

So we agree. There was nothing "Terrible" about Brissettes numbers. When you factor in his ability on the ground, it creates opportunities.

I do believe that Pitt was a better team overall last year compared the 2014 and 15 NCstate team. Much of what Peterman did is skewed by the high number of shovel passes thrown last year. It drives up the percentage, when in fact he didnt throw down field very much.

Lol keep spinning it all you want but a 130 QB rating isn't very good. Petersons was over 163 and he ran for over 250 having some mobility but not a running QB like Etling who's on pace for about 200 yards rushing this year. So there's really no comparison in what kind of QB has produced more in Canada's offense.
