Is it my imagination or does LSU hit into a larger than average number of double plays? Yesterday Bregman hit into two. Last year it seemed that they closed out a lot of potential rallies by by hitting into DP's.

I don't have any stats to quote or any comparison to other schools to substantiate my observation. Am I completely out in left field?

Don't get me wrong! I like this team! Hitting is better. Fielding is generally better. Pitching is inconsistent, but excellent at times. If we continue to improve and if we get Latz in before the end of the season, this team has the potential to go all the way.

Double plays have not been a big issue this year....I haven't looked at any stats, it just doesn't feel like it has been a big problem this season

Seems like it's better this year than in the past few seasons. Keep in mind that if a team bats well in general, they will have more base runners and more opportunities to hit into double plays.

Stats would be a good place to start BEFORE posting.

Just saying.

I've heard of some things that have happened at the Kappa Sig house that definitely make us DPU.

double plays were prevalent in 2012 and 2013. i kept count in 2013 and they eneded up with 69, counting the 3 raph hit into(LOL). havent been as bad the last 2 years, seems that the weak pop fly to shallow outfield/infield has replaced it in the offensive playbook

Thanks for the stats TigerCub. I assume these to be so far this season. Middle of the pack! Not that bad. Just like most of us, I hate to see them. It is a pet peeve of mine just like missed free throws. Can be a game breaker.

I can't wait to see the Tigers in Omaha!

Don't know where Alabama is right now but I think the White/Overstreet combo at SS and 2B have been highly ranked the last two years in Double Plays turned.
