Alleva is the cat you keep throwing off the bridge, but always keeps showing up at the back door.

An athletic departments job isn’t to be profitable. It’s to win. Profit is great but it’s still secondary.

Besides sacrificing the AD should play better than just the coach.

If the AD can show he was blameless in the whole matter, and took action as he was apprised of potential infractions, I don't think he's going to go down.

Not really, I'm hoping for an outcome where Wade stays at LSU. It's not likely, but I can hope, anyway. He's the best coach we've had in decades.

quote:

people hate Alleva and love Wade. So there’s that

And that pretty much sums up the contents of this board for the past 5 days at least. there's no rationale, just a hatred of one man and a love for another.

You've got to be kidding.
There is "no rationale" to demand Alleva be terminated?

Do tell.

I used to think so but I'm but I'm not even sure anymore.

If he got great players illegally maybe he's just got a great team that an above average coach could have success with.

Which was profitable before he got here, and will be profitable after he's gone.

I'm going to disagree with you here. Winning is a good way to get your program on sound financial footing, but money is always the bottom line.

Listen Joe. This is one of the dumbest rebuttals you have thrown out. The Athletic Department made money when Joe Dean was the AD. That is when a hotdog cost 2 bucks, tiger stadium held 20,000 fewer people, the football team was 3-9, the baseball stadium held 4,000 fewer people and had no suites, TV contracts were a fraction of what they are now, the SEC was in the infancy of revenue sharing, and the SEC Network didn't exist.

Being profitable is not remarkable. You suck at every aspect of your job that matters.

and represent the school.

E.g., UNC was stone cold guilty of academic fraud. They denied, delayed, obstructed, obfuscated until the NCAA had to quit. How was the school impacted. It wasn't.

OTOH, with Alleva as AD, UNC would have admitted guilt in advance, suspended Coaches and Players, prostrated the school before NCAA investigators and received a ton of sanctions. How would that represent the school?

I agree that Alleva should be held accountable.
If Wade is guilty, Joe didn't do his homework on the front end.
If Wade is innocent, Joe, F. King & the boys jumped the gun & didn't back Wade.......kinda like Duke days.
Finally, Ray Charles can see that basketball is dirty. The elite schools get away with it....see Carolina, Kansas, Duke, etc. If you are not an elite basketball school, like LSU, you have problems. CBS & the NCAA are not going to kill the cash cow in any sport (see Alabama, Auburn & the SEC). How anyone can come on any LSU site & worry about a fake news guy hitting on LSU blows me away.
LSU's hole card is Daddy Dale. He knows where the bodies are buried. If they go after LSU, it will be time for him to hold a press conference a relate some war stories!
One last thing: We all know Wade is gone. Any takers on my bet that he is coaching Alabama after a two year limbo tour? Why not? Bruce Pearl is at Auburn.

Yep, pretty much.

Hopefully.

I'm not saying nobody else can do his job, or that he's even doing a great job, just that he's actually just doing his job and doesn't deserve to get shite-canned at this point.

I never said it was remarkable, just necessary for the job.

Now you're implying that being profitable doesn't even matter. I think you're wrong there.

But I see what you did there, you want to pretend like I'm Joe Alleva. That's clever. Next I'm guessing you think I want Wade fired.

or d) told Wade this is big time basketball and you cannot treat this like your last job, if there is any dirty work leave it up to the bagman/boosters.
And Wade's dumb arse got caught on a wire tap recording. We need a Saban type, that dude will never get caught, Wade got caught his first year.

The burden of proof isn't on me to prove he shouldn't be fired, why don't you tell me why he should?

The fact is that the board is filled with irrational vitriol for Joe Alleva who hasn't even done anything wrong to this point.

The love for Wade isn't irrational, after all he's brought us our first conference title in basketball in ten years, the longest such stretch since the 60s-70s. Hell, I love the guy. It's actually fun watching a team play offense for a change.
