re: Donating to TAF, Priority Points, Waiting List????

I've been TAF since 2000.
I give the annual 100 bucks but I also attend TAF functions and buy tables at bayou bash, I also buy merchandise at the TAF events all which contribute to your point total.
Gridiron club which I used to be a member of counts too.

I'm in the mid 3000 priority points.

I don't love anything LSU has to offer me for the run of 10k a year.

re: Donating to TAF, Priority Points, Waiting List????
I have 32.7 Philanthropic points and my current Philanthropic rank is 2,738. I have 36.7 Priority Points and my rank is 4,800. I could not get 2 seats together in the lower bowl last year. There were some singles available. I did qualify for the new south endzone club seats in 2014, bu I was one of the last on the list. It took a rank of 2,000 or better last year to get lower bowl seats together. When the new seats open in 2014, there may be lower bowl seats available at a higher ranking when some people move to the club seats.

Yeah, I didn't know that either.

How much could you boost you points by participating in that other stuff?

TAF Priority points are on a 20 year rolling basis. That means in 2024 people that donated and got points in 2004 will lose those points from 2004.

That doesn't apply to philanthropic donations, FWIW.

quote:

Are All Donations - Regardless of When Made - Considered in Calculating Priority Points?

No. The priority point policy contains date restrictions covering certain types of donations and effective January 2, 2004, donors’ priority point totals will be calculated on a “rolling" twentyyear basis. This means that subject to the following exceptions, donations made more than
twenty years prior to the date upon which total priority points are calculated will not be
considered in calculating donors’ total priority points.

Exception Number One: Priority points based on donations to TAF prior to January 1, 2004, are
deemed earned as of January 1, 2004.

Exception Number Two: The rolling twenty year calculation does not apply to donations to TAF
philanthropic programs and does not apply to qualifying philanthropic donations made to the
LSU Foundation or the LSU Alumni Association on or after May 18, 2006.

re: Donating to TAF, Priority Points, Waiting List????
Don't listen to the people that say you are wasting your time and/or you gotta be rich to get tickets. Not true.

I graduated in 2003, the "peak" of LSU football fever, and all I've done is give $100/year since then and I got a call in 2009, lower bowl endzone (I also got 2 pts for doing the collegiate club my junior and senior years at LSU).

Will it take a few years to climb the ladder? Sure, but if you'r patient and continue giving $100 every year you'll eventually get a call. 2014 there are going to be A LOT of calls with all the shuffling going around with the SEZ expansion.

Just be patient, give your yearly donation, and the call will eventually come. If you've ever got an extra $5000 disposable income, feel free to give that and it will certainly shoot you up the rankings, but that is not necessary to eventually secure season tickets. Will it help? Sure, but it's not necessary if you're patient. I recommend giving the $100 per year, moving up slowly, and in the meantime just buy your season tickets on the secondary market every year.

Don't listen to the fools that say you're wasting you're time. Anyone that says that obviously doesn't know WTF they are talking about. I have first-hand experience that your time will come, and my experience has come in a very "LSU-crazy era" as fan interest in LSU the last 10+ years is at historic highs.

And also don't forget that even if it takes a few years to move up (and it feels like you're "wasting" money), you're donating to a program you love anyway, so in that context it makes me feel good.

Yeah that rule just applies to the seat donations and tradition fund primarily

Man, seems like its easier/cheaper to pay over face value for the one big game a year and then pay rock bottom prices on all the other games in lieu of all this giving.

Some fans like to help LSU build stuff and maintain one of the best sports program.

Buying from those selling tickets does that as well, just indirectly.

Hugo this is the exact same boat I'm in. I graduated in 2007 and have donated $100 every year, just trying to get an idea of how the system works.

An ok sideline seat TAF donation for existing season ticket holders costs ~ $900-$1000 each year to maintain the rights to buy their seats. That's why folks get so pissy about all the scrub games, because ~2/3 of the cost for each of the games is on TAF/tradition fees, and the ticket itself only costs ~<1/3 of the amount such season ticket holders dole out each year. So if we play McNeese or ULL or UAB, the real cost for a ticket to such a game for a season ticket holder is $150+...Yet, if you seek to sell it, good luck getting face value.

Congratulations, you've cracked the code.

But in all seriousness, paying the $10 wait list fee and buying the five game mini plan at face then pay the premium for the big games probably works out cheaper when it's all said and done.

Tell me more. Is this after you get your points up to qualify? Serious question. What are the in/outs? I think I've seen it before, where they give you two packages with each having a marquee game.

I like being economical about such things.

A lot of those fans also buy up all the tickets to the good games just to scalp them for a profit too.

I'm sure some do, but that's not a good reason to avoid donating to the cause if you cherish LSU sports.

It's different every year but I have always qualified for the mini plan (four-five home games) they offer regardless of points.

They will send you an email sometime around mid July saying you have an opportunity to buy tickets to some of the games or a package of games.

They will be sold online at a first come first serve basis usually on the following Monday at 8AM.

Most of my tickets were in the endzone and your seats will vary from game to game.
