Surprised he made his own thread to do so.

Better than in a thread where the post gets buried.

He’s trying to say Jay is hard to work for fwiw

I bet he is. That’s not a negative characterization, necessarily.

Winners work hard and that’s why they are less common.

Winning the CWS probably makes it easier for fringe-draft guys to leave and strike while the iron is hot.

Rantz indicated when Jay was hired is that he is as tough as nick saban especially with practices and two a days in the fall. He works them hard but I think the results speak for themselves

He doesn’t have an off switch and I can definitely see coaches not liking the work schedule.

The 22 team does not make regionals without Jay as coach

It will definitely keep players here. JJ will bring in transfers like last year. I think JJ will bring maybe not as good as this years team, but one that will get us back to Omaha for the 2024 season. I would think JJ will bring in a GREAT class for next year. This man can recruit and coach. Lucky to have him.

Jay could be the Saban of baseball. Hard to work for because he’s the hardest worker and has certain expectations. But he gets results. Naptime obviously isn’t an LSU fan but someone who’s connected and only has opinions about people and not results. Some of the worst people you can have around a program. Probably why the people he knows aren’t as connected as they used to be.

We had an older team and that’s one of the reasons why we won the whole thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost a lot of players. They have climbed the mountain top and many will want to maximize their draft stock. I would be surprised if we lost anyone to the portal that we really wanted to keep. You might have the rare guy who wants to be closer to home transfer or those that will not get playing time leave. I figured it will take Jay about 2 years to rebuild and be back in Omaha. As far as Wes goes he obviously wanted to be a head coach and that is why he took the LSU job. All indications are they got along pretty well.

Is it just me or did it seem like the pitching really turned it around when Wes took another job and Jay started handling more of those duties? Especially the BP

I definitely heard a lot of "The future UGA coach walking out... sorry, it's JAY Johnson, please don't kill me" during mound visits.

Do what? I’m a huge LSU fan. And I will always have the same connections I’ve had for the past 30 years as long as I don’t retire. Which could happen within the next year. And I have connections all around the country, not just here

Also how many players decide to come back that was wanting to leave for the draft.

Draft in baseball is a lot different than the draft in other sports. By the time these guys are hitting their 4th year, if they are any good they have probably been drafted 3 times. The question is will MLB teams give them a higher signing bonus because there stocks are higher now after winning? Or do some of these players think they may be able to improve a little more at LSU vs playing the single/double A life?

We have already lost Wes Johnson. He was applying for everything. We will be losing at least one more staff member. Does this win get that member back?

Only so many paid positions on a college baseball roster, so if they are going somewhere for a better opportunity/pay; unless LSU is willing to match why would they stay?
LSU was 32nd in ERA this past year. Jay had a shot at most of those pitching coaches for the 31 teams ranked ahead of LSU, and maybe some MLB guys. Winning will give LSU an advantage at trying to steal someone better than Wes away from other programs.

And the point of this thread is to what exactly? You don’t name the other coach. No one here has more information than you who’s willing to share it. We know your feelings about Jay which you don’t hide. And bullshite about being a fan. You might put on that smile around the right people and say the right things but you don’t come across as truly happy that we just won a championship. Instead, you’re using it as an opportunity to slide in, yet again, backhanded innuendo about Jay.

Im sure jay is hard to work for. But so is saban. Jay wins, it wont be an issue Bill.

We will probably cycle thru assistants every year or every other year. I can live with that as long we keep knocking on the omaha door

He hinted earlier that the head trainer wants to leave. Not sure if he counts as a coach.

You make it what you want. I’ve been involved with college athletics since around 1982. From north to south and east coast to west coast. The fact that kids were talking about entering the portal is true. Even some major freshman. Does this CWS win help change their minds? Another staff member is or was planning on leaving. Does this win help change his mind? That’s all I was trying to ask. And I’m thrilled they won. Like every year, I’m happy for people that I have had the opportunity to build relationships with.

But you know that none of us have those connections you do, so you know we are ill equipped to answer those specific questions
