I was watching the videos that cforester821 posted, thank you by the way good work, and it looks as if Harris isn't making his reads. All throws look like he picks one receiver before the play and throws it to them. He's already caused two players to get popped and I believe that to be result of it. He's got such a pretty ball and looks to have the skills. What do you guys think?

Reads or not, he's hit LSU receivers in the hands more than 3/4ths of the ime.

I KNOW that none of us know whether he is going through his progressions or not. We don't know the play call or who his first read is. Any fan on this site that says he knows for fact that a qb isn't going through reads is talking out of his arse.

ETA: I'd be willing to bet that the TE isn't his first read and he has thrown to our TE in 2 games already

I think people often mistake throwing to the open primary receiver as "not making any reads."

I can't think of any passes that have been forced, so I think his "problem" is that he is just throwing to the primary receiver who is open.

nice

Yes he does. As does the majority of QB's. Few pro's are good at 1 thru 4 looks. But he looks to be getting better and more confident every game. For only his 5th start he's doing just fine.

No problem with the videos. They're easy to make, so no big deal.

But the point of the videos is to create discussion about breaking down the film on Harris. So if you want to point that out, go ahead and do it in that thread. It's what it's there for.

A lot of his throws are one read options, really. We throw a lot of stops, so that's a one read play.

It looked like the throw to Jeter, he was looking at the post route, and then saw Jeter come open and reacted late. Both were in the same vicinity, so there's no distinct head turn needed.

Dupre, yes.... Jeter no. DB made a hell of a play and left his man. Those things happen. Rewatch the play if you disagree.

Well, on Jeter's I doubt we have many pass plays where the tight end is the primary read across the middle.

Dupre was open, the pass was a little high. It looked to be an all go route play, so I really don't have a problem with him throwing to the seam guy.

The OP looked into posting in the original thread, saw it was covered and checked down to this...his secondary read thread.

"Poor" Harris. His receivers are over performing and the "hot receiver" has been open most of the time and he throws to him. He will never learn to read and pick up additional receivers if the "hot" receivers keep getting open.

No, he doesn't "stare down" receivers. When the "hot" receiver has not been open he has looked for and found 2nd receivers and thrown to them. He has even scrambled and found receivers. Everyone to whom he has thrown a pass has had a chance to catch the ball, even if it was "tight" and not all were first reads. Because he is an excellent scrambler and to date is careful throwing the ball.

When will people understand that the QB always follows the "hot" receiver first and he is open at least half the time.

I played defensive end, the second dumbest position in football.

Not forced...late. Just like the TD pass to TD.

Those weren't forced. They were high and thrown late. It's not like they were double covered.
