Wrong. You can't be a starting nfl qb without being able to make through your progressions. Reading a defense and going through progressions is what separates college qbs and nfl qbs.

lot of his throws are one read options, really. We throw a lot of stops, so that's a one read play.
This happens with most young and inexperienced qbs. The last thing you want to do with a young and inexperienced qb is send him to the line with too many responsibilities. Once those one read plays become second nature, coaches start putting more on his plate.

When the "hot" receiver
Miles and Cam are not giving him hot route audibles option. If you mean primary receiver then yeah, but a hot route is called to take advantage of a defensive player blitzing and takes advantage of the space that the blitzing defensive player left.

The shame of it is the fact that there are STARTING QB'S in the league that can't do this.....

When will people understand that the QB always follows the "hot" receiver first and he is open at least half the time.
I think many fans believe the QB needs to check every receiver, in order, then determine which was most open and return to that receiver for the throw.
In reality, much of what goes into "reads" by a good QB is done before the snap, and in many cases, what looks like a checkdown during the play is really the QB looking off the safety before throwing to his primary option.

There may be some that can't make it to their 4th read but 99% of starting nfl qbs can and do make it to their 3rd read.
Maybe qbs like Tebow and Pryor can't make it to their 3rd read but that's why they are no longer starting nfl qbs

Dupre wasn't left out to dry it's a seam route. It was 4 seams. The guys in the slots are gonna get hit period on that play got to hold on

Reads or not, he's hit LSU receivers in the hands more than 3/4ths of the ime.
This. Who needs reads if the guy he is throwing to is wide arse open...

All QB's do this, some more than others. You can find top notch NFL QB's doing this at times.

Yes
But it's definitely not as obvious as his predecessors. (excluding Mett)

None of us on this board knows if Harris is going through his progressions or not.

I don't know what 32 QB's your looking at but if you think Vick, Taylor, Clauson, J McCown, Weedon, Mallett, Bortles, Tannehill, Carr, Fitzpatrick, and Kaepernik are all excelling at this skill then I don't know what to say. Its the most difficult 3 second job in sports. Pocket awareness being second. Its why there are so few elite QB's. And as well in college.

Yes, I wish they would teach him a simple pump fake move.

Just Curious, what would you consider the first to be? Lol

I KNOW that none of us know whether he is going through his progressions or not. We don't know the play call or who his first read is. Any fan on this site that says he knows for fact that a qb isn't going through reads is talking out of his arse.
ETA: I'd be willing to bet that the TE isn't his first read and he has thrown to our TE in 2 games already
You mean even the great and all knowing Rickmommy doesn't know this.
WOW I'm shocked
