Just score a touchdown and this argument doesn't matter. We almost lost to Auburn, that's how poor the offense was.

And at start of year Tennessee was supposed to be better than TAM/Mizz if A&M had sucked it up like many on this board predicted along with Mizz then LSU would have Florda, SC, Alabama and Alabama would have had Tennessee/LSU.
Had we gone by the predictions of this very board at the start of season their SEC schedules would have been closer to even.
I like the game with Florida every year and if we didn't have it and caught Kentucky and Alavama had Florida then LSU fans would find a new reason to whine and complain. It is the nature of this board.
Bottom line is you handle your business and you don't worry about other teams schedules. At the end of year a harder schedule can favor you in eyes of some pollsters and in some of computers. Nama is where they are right now because they started season higher ranked and Oregon/KState couldn't take care of business.

The difference of opinion on this board seems to be the schedule of LSU in the past and this year vs. the people who are looking at the fairness of the schedule in the future.
Since we can't do anything about what is past, what are the opinions for how the schedule is determined in the future?
We can argue all night about what would have been.
In 1992, the SEC decided that LSU would have two "permanent" opponents - Florida and Kentucky - based on tradtional strengths of the programs. That seems fair and correct for 1992. In 2002, the SEC decided that Kentucky would be dropped from LSU's schedule, even though they had played for 50 years. That seems to be the sticking point. Why? Because LSU was on the rise in 2002?
Times change. What was fair in 1992 is not necessarily what is fair in 2012, which is the basic problem with permanent opponents. If a program determines that it is in their best interests to play one team outside of the division then that should not be at the expense of the other programs. That is my point.

it doesnt even matter how good or how shitty a particular team is in a given year
it's the fact that the entire league has to adhere to this ridiculous scheduling all because alabama wants to play tennessee every year in their annual hate-fest, half assed rivalry that no one even gives a frick about, besides them. it's at least the 2nd most heated rivalry for both schools

Agreed. It is bullshite. The only way to solve this in a "fair" way is to put the teams that need to play those permanent rivalry games in their own division.
It has always bothered me that in no other part of sports does the schedule differ SO MUCH for, not only teams in the conference, but teams in the same division.
Let's use common sense about this. Why is Georgia in the SEC Championship game last year and this year? Why would you favor Alabama over LSU next year to win the west? The answer MAY be that they are the better team, but common sense tells you that the reason is the fricking schedule! Where else do you do this in sports? And that schedule is dictated by the conference!

that doesnt make it any less ridiculous
and of course whoever gets to play vandy, ole miss, and kentucky every year would agree to leave it alone. and we know alabama and tennessee(for god knows why) want to keep it the same also.

1. As someone else said, Saban wanted it.
2. THe bye weeks have to go somewhere on the schedule. If teams have relatively equal strengths of schedule, it should even out over time. Thats why the opponents should rotate. That would also even out over time.

I like the stronger schedule
For LSU, strong schedules = National respect. Weak schedules = Ho-hum nationally (unless you are Alabama, USC, or some other media golden child).
The other learning from last year is if you have a strong schedule and beat them all, like LSU did in 2011, nobody can make a claim ahead of you (except Alabama, which always gets a mulligan).

LSU has always been the red headed stepchild of the sec. Baton Rouge was the most westward member of the sec by far. LSU always played 3 Southwest conference teams like Rice, BAylor,TCU and Texas A&M on their schedule while playing 5 sec teams most years. We have played Rice and A&M more than Georgia & Tennessee. We just don't have much pull with the conference. Don't see it changing any time soon.

Alleva has been outspoken about this issue and it's well known that he voiced his opposition to the SEC. It takes more than one AD to make a change to the entire SEC.
I've never understood the irrational disdain for our AD. LSU athletics is better than ever. Our facilities are getting upgrades and overall, Alleva has been involved in decent hires. I think some of you are just bitter about paying $40 a game to tailgate and want to take your frustration out on an old rich white guy outsider from Duke.
