For various reasons, many LSU fans, particularly those in BR in LA feel threatened by the Saints. IMO.

i don't really dislike or like the saints...i'll pull for them i guess, but could care less if they lose a game

as far as lsu goes, my night's borderline ruined if lsu loses...basically i'm a huge lsu fan, and couldn't care less about the saints

but a guy i know, from LA, is a very big saints fan, and hates lsu...hates with a passion...i really believe that it's just penis envy b/c lsu has had recent success, and the saints really haven't, at least to the extent of lsu. it's sad though, b/c he makes me hate the saints and pull against them simply b/c he pulls so hard against lsu

it was funny though, after the '03 season, this guy became a huge usc fan, and apparantly is still to this day...it's pretty pathetic

My Father is from New Orleans and my mother is from Plaquemine (the city not the parish). I live in New Orleans (and don't want to live anywhere else). I don't see how passion for college football team changes passion for a pro team. They don't compete against each other and I've never had to choose going one teams game or watching one team over another. That being said... from my experience I have noticed that North Louisiana baptists are distrustful of South Louisiana Catholics and vice versa. Lafayette is jealous of Baton Rouge. And the whole state views NOLA as a crazy old aunt thats does just about anything she wants to no matter how embarrassing to the rest of the family.

I love both LSU and The Saints and would be devastated if anything happened to either.I'm glad the state finally negotiated a decent deal that benefits New Orleans and doesnt rape the people of La. The difference between The Saints and LSU is I'm on the couch screaming at the TV with the Saints, with LSU im blocking the view of the TV while in front of it,screaming at the TV... Geaux Tigers and Geaux Saints!!!

There does seem to be a bit of rivalry directed from Baton Rouge and rural Lousiana towards the city of New Orleans

Some of it seems political or cultural - I guess some is historical
