For the "Chavis doesn't want to be a HC" crowd. It's completely wrong. I can tell you for a fact that he would leave to be a Head Coach but only at the right position. He wouldn't leave here to be a HC at Kent St. A couple years ago TN offered him the DC position again, and he told them to call back when they were offering the HC position. That is a fact.

You never go back in life unless you get paid boats loads of cash. Chavis departing LSU will be abysmal for our head coach/team.

I think Chavis ends up as a Head Coach somewhere in January, but I doubt it's Tennessee. The "political" situation that caused the removal of Fulmer will not allow some of the booster to let that happen. If Chavis were hired, they would be conceeding that they hurt the program by selecting Kiffin over Chavis in '08.

We will swing and miss on Gruden. Hire someone like Dooley again, and Chavis will have success somewhere else.

Someone asked this on FBaum yesterday. PF unequivocally said no. Gave it 0 consideration.

I think he loves working with players, he's Xs & Os type of coach. Not the kind to embrace all the admin duties of a HC.

Thank god for Chavis if not for him Les's record would have sucked the last 5 years.

What an asinine statement. Without Chavis we would have an inept DC? Miles wouldn't have gone out and hired someone else good? Gimme a break.

The first call will be to Kirby Smart at Alabama, and I believe that the hire will eventually get the Tennessee AD fired.

Chavis doesn't float his name out there because he's not interested in being a head coach IMO.

coaches know what it takes to be a coach. they know how complicated being a winner is. coaches don't think like most ranturds think.
he sees how miles is treated as one of the premier coaches in america by some lsu fans.
-- miles should get a raise just for putting up w/ the negative lsu fans. lm's agent and the administration know that.

Thank you I remember everyone on the rant saying Les made the "safe" hire when he got Chavis and he wasn't that great.

If I was him my mouth would water at the idea of being freed from Miles' offensive handcuffed team.

If working for MIles was really an issue, he could have left for Georgia a couple of years ago, but he didn't.

He has been passed up by Tenn twice now but if they offered at this point and the money was right, I seriously doubt he would turn it down to stay with Miles here.

If you put yourself in Tennessee's shoes, would you consider Chavis?

I wouldn't...and I think Chavis is a GREAT defensive coordinator.

But, Tennessee needs to make a big hire with a guy who has been a head coach and is good at the things that head coaches need to be good at to succeed.

It would be MUCH smarter, to make a quality hire, and then throw the checkbook at Chavis to come back as the coordinator again.

I think you are waaay off on your assessment.
