Does anyone think that Tennessee will go after Chavis?

Short Chavis Interview from his Tenn days
I think they would be fools not to go after him. If Tennessee doesn't, others will. I would if I was looking for a head coach.
I am sure Alleva and Miles have a list of candidates if this was to happen.
I love his comment that it's our job to outplay the opponents defense.

I am not sure Chavis wants to be a head coach...

If he wanted to be a head coach, he could've.
With his experience he could get any number of smaller school jobs.
I don't think he cares for many of the managerial tasks a head coach has to perform, he's an X's and O's football junkie who seems perfectly happy being the best assistant coach in the country.

Everyone says he doesn't want to be head coach. Some have even said he is too old. He is only 56. The reason he isn't head coach is because he hasn't been offered the right job. He has been a DC at 2 schools since 1989. He has been passed up by Tenn twice now but if they offered at this point and the money was right, I seriously doubt he would turn it down to stay with Miles here. There may not be many schools he would want to go be head coach at though. He makes good money and only a certain level of school would even pay more than that. But don't act like he isn't interested at all or feels loyal to LSU. If I was him my mouth would water at the idea of being freed from Miles' offensive handcuffed team.

The grass is always greener. Many Tennessee fans were happy to see him - and "Third and Chavis" - go.
Like many have said - I think Chavis has made up his mind to be an elite D-Coord in lieu of an average Head Coach.

He has said before that he doesn't like the spotlight and does not envy CLM or desire his job. He is the type of guy who works with his players and his schemes privately.

Now we have "Third and Miles"
3rd and 3? Get the punt team ready.

What he actually said this.
See the last 7 or 8 lines of the article in the link.

I hope he stays. If I were Arkansas, Tennesse, Auburn, or Texas I would have him at the top of the list for an interview.

Can't disagree with this, but all is well. Les has yet to open up his secret playbook.

teams have been coming after chavis for years. Apparently he isn't interested in being a HC.

Chavis is arguably the best d coordinator in CFB. If he was going to move to hc, it would have been done now. Lets just thank God every night that we have him. It's clear right now that without him, this team isn't much of a championship team.

With all due respect to Chavis, Tenn. would be foolish to try to right their sinking football ship with a never HC guy headed into his 60ies. imo
Of course, I thought bringing in a guy from La. Tech who had never been successful even in the Sunbelt was more than a little questionable, so who knows.
It is interesting that the guy called out here in 09 by more than just a few as a questionable DC hire by Miles, now is championed as the only thing keeping LSU football afloat...go figure.
If I'm Tenn, I go after a highly successful HC at some level who has made a name as a great recruiter cause Tenn HS football isn't much and they haven't been getting the top HC talent from other states in the south as they were doing 10 yrs ago.

no.
In regards specifically to UTenn, Chavis has too many ties, real and perceived, to Fulmer.
I also think that if he had designs to become a HC, his name would be linked with job openings. similar to kirby smart.

Thank god for Chavis if not for him Les's record would have sucked the last 5 years. If he weren't the defense coach this year we would probably be 4&3. I keep hoping that Lsu will sometimes this season find an offense.

They might but I don't think he would take it. He has said before he doesn't ever want a HC job.
