you were doing when this happened?

March 16 1986

Anthony Wilson, the hero of Louisiana State's double-overtime victory over Purdue Thursday night, hit an off-balance 10-foot jumper at the buzzer Saturday to give LSU an 83-81 victory over 12th-ranked Memphis State in the second round of the Southeast Regional at Baton Rouge, La.

Dandy Don referenced his name this morning and that run in 1986 is still vivid in my mind.

I was playing softball in a softball tourny in Thibodaux and couldnt watch the game because we were playing...I remember being out in the field and suddenly this big roar went up from people there listening on the radio and everybody went nuts!!

OMG those Final Four...Great 8 runs were unreal!

I was ther in the PMAC loving every minute of it because three friends from Memphis had come down to go to the game with me. Don Redden, Anthony Wilson, Ricky Blanton not NBA caliber but Dale had them play as a solid team.

I wanted to watch it, but I wasn't even crawling yet and couldn't reach the radio/tv/whatever they had back then.

I was tending bar at this little dive on the outer banks of north carolina called Sam & Omie's. my best bud JD, as maxed out a gump as they come, and I were watching the game and chatting up this babe from ohio when Wilson made the shot....which led to shots for the babe, my bestest bama bud and me. win...win...win...win. great day.

I was in the top row of the middle section (east side behind goal). It may have been louder than the LSU-Auburn earthquake game.

Funny how you remember little things. There were a ton of Memphis fans in the upper level behind me. Several times I yelled "Go home Yankees" (I was young, stupid, and Memphis is far north). A couple of Memphis fans got really riled up and took it as a personal insult that anyone from Memphis, TN would be considered a "yankee" .

And by the way.........the Memphis Tiger Girls, Tigerettes, are whatever they're called, were the best-looking group of females I've seen in my life.

In the upper deck of the Assembly Center going ape shite nuts.

We were very fortunate to be able to play at home as an 11-seed no doubt, and likely if we'd played either of those teams on a neutral court we don't win, but we earned our spurs beating No. 2 seed Ga Tech basically on their turf in Atlanta and No. 1 seed Kentucky.

Dalrymple, Price, Salley, Turpin, Bowie, Lee didnt have a chance...would have been shocking to win it all that year but Dale got every ounce of that team.

Still a vivid memory. Can't overstate how impressive that group was.

I felt so sorry for the Tiger Girls having to follow that. That was not contest.
