I was at the game. What sucked was we (students) had a hard time getting tickets to the game because I want to say they sold the other (1/2) section of the student section away for the game. It was an upper section or something like that. Maybe I am wrong, but seem to recall us losing a "1/2 section".
I was at the Dome when we beat Arky and Witchta State to go to Philly. I remember when Rudy broke his finger. It was more than a broken finger. He had to get stitches as I recall.

I was there for the tournament games at the Superdome...that was like in 1980 though...Wichita State had Cliff Levingston and Antoine Carr...Dale went nuts when we won and clinched Final Four trip.

I was there too. The funniest thing was that the Memphis coach, Dana Kirk, refused to shake Dale Brown's hand afterwards. A local reporter said " Kirk stormed off presumably to do his taxes." He had been accused of tax evasion.

I still remember Hawthorne's call to this day...

"Redden takes the jump shot....get in! get in! get in ! NOOOOOO! Rebound is loose! It's....LSU has it...and a shot by Wilson is GOOD! GOOD! It's GOOD! And the TIGERS WIN!! It's GOOD! I do not believe it! The Memphis State players are stunned! LSU has won it on a shot by Anthony Wilson!

I still remember that ball bouncing all over the glass and rim before it finally decided to go in.

Getting ready to head to the Irish Channel St. Patrick's parade. Needless to say there was a lot of electricity on the parade route.

LSUJuice- thanks for locating that link. I searched & searched and came up empty handed. That was a special season. I recall we lost to UK twice during the regular season, and again in the SEC Tourn. When that team made it to Atlanta I recall telling people there is no way JB Hall is going to best Daddy Dale 4-times in one season. If I remember correctly, UK beat us in the SECT on a last shot at the buzzer and we beat them in Atlanta the same way. In fact, UK may have done that twice in three of their wins against us that season. Not sure about that. Great subject. Excellent memory! Thanks again

I sold concessions with my high school government class at that game. Watched the last few minutes from a portal overlooking a corner of LSU's half of the court. Particularly sweet because a Memphis State fan had been giving us a rash of sh*t throughout the game.
