Previous season 12-21 overall, 2-16 Big 12
Beat Richmond tonight to reach the NIT final four and currently stand at 22-15 overall.

quote:

On March 21, 2016, TCU hired Pitt head coach and former Horned Frogs' letterman Jamie Dixon as the Frogs' next head basketball coach.[8] Prior to his return to Fort Worth as the 22nd head coach of TCU basketball, Dixon spent 13 years as the head coach at Pitt, won 4 national coach of the year awards, and ranked as the 9th winningest, active Division I head coach.[7] Dixon's impact at TCU was immediate, where in his first season he landed the highest-rated recruit in TCU history, led the Frogs to their best conference record and finish, best overall record, and first postseason tournament since joining the Big 12 in 2012, and knocked off the #1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks in the 2017 Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City–marking the program's first-ever win over a #1 ranked team.

I can see Coach Wade doing something similar next season for the Tigers.

Which is why I expect Wade to do something similar in year 1 & 2.

We have talent on the roster, we just haven't coached them for shite.

That's because he has David Patrick as his top assistant

A bit premature to compare Dixon to Wade.

I think we'll see immediate and tangible signs of how bad this culture has gotten. I'm not talking about making post season tournaments but little things that give us hope and show the talent ain't quite as bad as what it looked to be this year.

For example, LSU 341 in defensive efficiency and VCU 22 this year. I think we'll see coaching can make a difference here.

yeah a good coach can turn it around in 2-3.

Hell, only 5 play at a time.

Remember DiNardo Leaving..he was only dressing out like 55 players....we were in the dumps...Saban won a SEC Title in year 2.

I agree and I did not do that. I just pointed out that with better coaching and a player or two, a quick turnaround is possible. Dixon is a much more experienced and accomplished coach than Coach Wade at this point.

I'm not sure I'll hold Wade to the same standard as TCU this coming year, but I will say Brady took over a shite show worse than the one Wade is with a historically significant probation to boot and made the Sweet 16 in his third year. So it can absolutely be done.

We have gaps, but their is talent on the roster. If Blakeney comes back and we can land smart, a combo of Smart, Sampson, and Blakeney, with Mays/Rachel/Alexander rotating in can be a solid backcourt. Landing a strong big that can play the 5 (immediately) would be huge. Reath is talented but too weak for the 5.

I know that's asking for a lot, but basketball rebuilds don't have to be as drastic as other sports...and I'm being optimistic right now

Smart is a 2018 recruit. He'll still be in HS next season.

If LSU can get a little help in the frontcourt, I don't think 8-9 SEC wins would be impossible. This past seasons team under a different HC is not a 2 win SEC team. With no attrition, LSU would return its entire team. Probably not a SEC champ group but 9 Conf wins wouldn't be unthinkable depending on the schedule

By tomorrow night I hope Wade is up in Kansas at the JUCO tournament. He's going to need to pull two or three of the kids playing up there this week.

Which is why I wanted LSU to shell out $3 million+ per year for an experienced/proven coach like Dixon, Prohm, Drew. Instead, LSU saved money and accepted some risks. But what's done is done and I hope Wade does awesome here.

+1. Ridiculous that so many are saying it'll take at least 3 years.

There is just no excuse for any school from a major conference being this bad. It is hard to be that bad at basketball. Johnny Jones really is a bad basketball coach. He chose the wrong career. I'm not even trying to be mean.

Everything I've read and heard about him leads to the impression that he's a young basketball version of Nick Saban. We can all only hope so...........
