Just 2 years ago. The last two years we were starting very young and inexperienced qbs.

No one is asking Harris to be those guys. We are asking him to make the simple throws that any highschool qb can make.

I think everyone gets caught up too much with the type of offense LSU runs. The spread offense was developed by smaller schools as a way to counter the talent of the larger schools. Nobody complains when LSU runs the infamous toss dive over and over again when it works.
My issue with Miles' offense has always been about predictability by down, as well as an inability to adapt in-game when the original plan doesn't work.
Against Alabama, LSU was getting dominated at the line, yet continually ran the ball into the strength of the defense. Against Arkansas, LSU abandoned it's typical identity, went almost exclusively shotgun-only spread and got its arse handed to it. Against Ole Miss, early penalties and early failures to put points on the board placed the Tigers in a hole and Harris failed miserably.
In my opinion, the offense doesn't need an overhaul. It needs to be less predictable by down. It needs to involve a more competent intermediate to short passing game, an area that Harris must improve in dramatically.
I am on the fence about Miles. Although he certainly has his weaknesses, he has maintained a high level of expectations at a program that was in the abyss not that long ago. His main failure is his inability to recruit and/or develop a quarterback, as well as his failures to make the in-game adjustments when the initial plan doesn't work.
I know...TLDR

No, but Harris had more of impact than either Miles of Buga. He just never progressed through the season like many thought.

That oline was overrated too..was never sold on what they did the first 8 weeks

He's only responsible because the buck stops with him and this LSU team wasn't good enough to have a Heisman winner come from it. The 3 finalists are all from power 5 conference champions. And the guy I'm sure finished 4th did the same. So, the top 4 are the best players on 3 of the 4 playoff teams, all of whom won their conference.

No, having to play against Bama's defense and having the Mcneese St. game cancelled cost him the Heisman. Fournette was running against stacked boxes all year, and was doing just fine. Only one running back ran for over 50 yards against Alabama all year. None of the Heisman finalists had to play against Bama's D, none of them had a game cancelled, and all of them played in a championship game.

mehh. There are a lot of arguments here and you can blame a lot of people.
But A lot of it falls on about 4 stupid penalties.
Those 4 plays were probably worth a good 250 yards.
I tend to blame Miles for the blatant lack of discipline, but it's whatever.

That 250, with 60 more yards against Arkansas, and the McNeese game and he would've been in, easily.

Just a strange f'n year.

STOP TALKING ABOUT MCNEESE.

FOURNETTE WOULD NOT HAVE WON EVEN IF HE HAD 300+ ON MCNEESE.

REPEAT: FOURNETTE WOULD NOT HAVE WON HAD WE PLAYED MCNEESE.

Miles and circumstances cost him a shot at the Heisman. The Bama game was on the biggest of stages but that only allowed the field to catch up with him. The Arkansas game is where the Heisman was lost and that team was ill-prepared to play and that IS on the coach.

Circumstances come in to play also. Obviously with the McNeese State game you presume Fournette rushes for 150 yds at least. Now he's sniffing 2000+ yards in a season. You have to invite someone to the ceremony of his caliber who breaks the 2000 yard mark.

But there is also the "next" mentality that creeps up with fans and the coaching staff. Next year, next game, etc. Fournette should have clearly been allowed to run a little more in the Cuse game and break the LSU record on his way to a 300 yard day but for some reason was held out. Next game he'll get it,let's wait till he's in front of the home crowd. You allow him to run that game and what he would have done in the Mcneese game, he's working on 2100+ yards, a 300 yard game, several 200 yard games, Heisman highlights, and a great backstory. Would have been very hard to keep him from the ceremony then AND Henry would have ended up having to run the ball 57 times a game the last 2-3 games to eclipse Fournette's numbers.

So yes, Miles cost Fournette by not having the team ready to play Ark (if I can say that without being called a negi-tiger...it still is the coach's job to have a team ready to play, right?). But it was also circumstances that contributed to Fournette not having a chance to win the trophy.

Of,course he did. His refusal adapt to the year 2015 caused the stale offense to be exposed. If he doesn't change, he will cost him again next year.
