Who was LSU supposed to lose to? What an easy schedule, he inherited and got Florida at home vs the road.

7-1 was the floor. 6-2 is not good enough. This isnt rocket science. Lets see 3-1 is the same % as 6-2 as is 9-3. When was this ever good enough?
Going 2-2 at home in conference play is just not good enough. Period.

Keep looking for any reason to say something positive about the new coach. Its getting nauseating. Lets see what he does this year with a very good team and a returning QB. Pay attention to the W-L record, play calling, game planning, player effort, whats happening on the recruiting trail and new coaching hires.
And thats just the football stuff.
Another in state 4* player of need has committed else where. 2 this week.

Orgeron was probably the worst hire by a major program that is a legit player in the big 2 sports in 20 years

No, but I expected 7-1. The Florida game was super close though. I absolutely despised the hire, trust me, but I'm gonna wait and see if Orgeron can actually pull this off. I just hope Alleva has the balls to fire Orgeron the second it looks like it isn't gonna work. No fricking around.

My thoughts exactly! I want Coach O to win and do well, but thank god if he doesn't Alleva goes with him and won't be around for the next coaching hire.

No one is shitting on O. Stop being a hysterical little girl. He's a big boy. Being realistic about his resume is not insulting him.

Oh he's probably one of the ones who gets excited listening to O talking about his etoufee recipe thinking to himself how cute and unique it is to have "one of us" leading LSU.

I'm tired of this coordinator argument. If you have to hire the best coordinators in CFB every year, then what does that say about your head coach?

Effective leaders surround themselves with the best people. This is business school 101 type stuff.

The idea is that by hiring highly competent coordinators that you don't have to micromanage every aspect of the game. It allows him to focus on the big picture and play to his strengths on the recruiting trail.

Its almost August and some folks who liked the hire are still having to try and justify why they think it will work.

Dude that tells me all I need to know. It was a horrible decision to hire this coach by the AD.

Miles absolutely would have been 3-1 through Mizzou, USM, Ole Miss, and Bama.

I'm also pretty certain he would have been 2-1 or 3-0 against Arkansas, Florida, and aTm.

wtf? I don't think you understand momentum

He avoided 2/4 of the toughest teams on the schedule and lost to the other 2.

I didn't expect him to go 8-0 but I did expect him to beat a less talented significantly injured Florida team at home

Did anyone really expect LSU to replace Les Miles with a guy who had been a head coach for 3 years (9 years ago), went 10-25 (3-21 in conference), and had never been a coordinator?

No one is arguing about the ineptitude of the admin.

Some of these posters are going to have some serious egg on their faces if O wins 10 games or more.

I think he CAN with this squad. But if he doesn't, and loses perhaps 4 or more games....he needs to go the way of Miles...quickly.
The problem is jerk-off Alleva will still be around to coordinate the next hiring.

If we beat Florida, are we even having this debate on O's prowess as HC?

yes.

you've repeatedly said Miles not getting offers proves he sucks. what does that say about Ed Orgeron not getting coordinator job offers for 29 of his 32 year career?

it's one of the most unqualified hires in big 6 history.

Exactly. If Coach O had beaten UF and only lost to Bama, these threads would barely exist and folks would be much more confident going into this season. That's just my opinion tho..

Ricky daddy has got to be in timeout with all this Miles talk I haven't seen him in any of these threads... I figured he would be all over the place...

But we didn't. And even if we did, he is still the worst coach in Ole Miss history, and not even a Sun Belt school was offering him a HC position.

there is a portion of our fan base that has convinced themselves that hiring a coach that wouldn't be interviewed at any p5 program for a coordinators job is somehow a good hire.
