It's going to be a must to utilize & execute off of play action. Opposing teams safeties & linebackers are going to selling out hard to stop the run. Making them pay for taking a false step or two is going to be a must.

This is what Mett did so well. It didn't hurt that he had Beckham & Landry running sharp, crisp NFL quality routes. The two of biggest telling signs of how the offense will be early on will be the amount of separation the receivers get coming out of their breaks & how the handle press coverage. Those are two aspects our young receivers struggled with last season.

Heard this live and thought it was a retired pro at the beginning. Just talks like he's been to media training.

Have never heard an interview like this, great insight to the life of a tiger football players, but just his style and delivery. It's engaging.

Smooth talker for sure. He was one of the players that I was happiest to see commit. High character and crazy skills. He will make some people very happy before he leaves.

It sure sounds like he begins to refer to Brandon Harris as "the starting quarterback", and catches himself at the last minute.
BH is the starting QB until AJ comes off the suspension. (Which will probably be the start of the third quarter against McNeese)

If Miles wants to show he means business, he should suspend Jennings for the first three games of the season..........

One game suspension at most considering the charges against him. If BH gets the full game under his belt(McNeese)...he should perform more than well enough to get the start in game 2 in Starkville and then you just go from there. Harris HAS to take advantage and be THE guy.

Just reading that last quote instantly turned me into a HUGE Derrius Guice fan.

Love the attitude. Hope it's contagious.

Wearing #5 with his speed and versatility, i think he compares to Reggie Bush. I know he has 15-20 lbs on Bush(at least as college frosh)but he's a freak athlete and I expect he'll get his fair share of touches for a change of pace.

I also like to say a faster Marshawn Lynch (who ran a 4.46 at the combine) or Cadillac Williams (who ran a 4.43). He could legit run a sub 4.4 if he stays around 215.

He catches like a WR and his speed was evidenced not only against local high school talent, but All American high school talent when he housed two catches for 60+ and 90+ yards. He has a "refuse to go down" mentality, which was the first thing that I loved about his game. Extremely explosive athlete that does everything right.

Like I've been saying for a while now, even though I like Williams, Guice will take his #2 spot in a matter of a couple of games. He's just way to talented and DETERMINED not to. Him and Fournette will be a ridiculous 1-2 punch.

The Cadillac Williams comparison is a good one IMO.

That's a good call Lester... Def see some similarities between the 2, along with Cadillac Williams.

I watched a ton of Derrius in HS and my favorite thing about how he runs is his uncanny ability to always fall forward. A tackler can completely frame tackle him up but he uses this spin move while keeping his feet moving that always allows him to fall forward. It's part of the power he brings. It's impressive and will allow him to average an extra yard or two per run.

Yep... That's the attitude and mindset he has where he will never let the first guy make the tackle. There were times when he was gang tackled by 4 or 5 guys and refused to go down and always pushing forward.

I hope we see DG back deep on kickoffs

Same here. And I think we will. Les likes to have a RB back there for ball security, ability to read a hole, and blocking in case the ball goes to the other return man. I doubt we see LF back there strictly because he's going to have a very big workload. So I think we see Guice back there along with someone like Donte Jackson, Chark, Tre White, etc.

I'd like to see Guice on kickoffs as well. Would Les be okay with an all-freshmen return unit? Guice and Jackson are both so dangerous
