I sort of agree. If Jefferson doesn't play better and more aggressively, we need to give Lee a shot.

The one thing I would add to Lee is that he needs to be more accurate in short-to-medium throws. He is really good on the deep ball but with our athletes at wideout, he needs to put the ball on the money and let them fly in space. JJ is better in this regard.

If Danielson thinks the QB play last year was worse than the OL or DL play, I don't know what to tell him. Can't deny Jefferson's struggles last year, but I would still put his play above those two units' performances.

If JJ plays 30% better and our running game is terrible like last year, we will still get beat.

If JJ plays more aggressively/takes less sacks and we have a legit running game, we will be a LOT tougher to beat.

No, he has not been really good on the deep ball. I have no clue why people think or say this. His first few SEC games he threw some nice longer passes, but that's it.

People needa quit with these statements. The Leak comparison is atrocious. The Campbell one isn't as awful but it's still not good.

i dont even know who that is but they can both go frick themselves.

Jordan and Matt Barkley were born 13 days apart. Jordan is called "absolutely atrocious". Barkley is called a "major talent" on ESPNs heisman watch list.

Jordan Jefferson in 2009
- a 137.18 QB rating
- 17 TD's
- 7 INT's

Matt Barkley in 2009
- a 131.32 QB rating
- 15 TD's
- 14 INT's

the media just says shite. it's rarely based on reality. theyre rarely, if ever, right. the only power they have is what we give them.

2200 yds, 21 tds and 7 picks isn't atrocious.

Does it need to improve? Yes
I agree with this...

Being a successful QB has to be about more than just stats. The QB has to keep drives alive on third down. The QB has to have the ability to finish that go ahead drive in the 4th quarter. The QB has to have the awareness of the game situation and help manage the clock. The QB has to lead the team through actions and words.

Hopefully we see all of the above this year to go along with the talent at the other 21 positions.

You can't just look at the stats. You have to look at the whole picture. With the box stacked against the run, 180 yards passing per game is not very good. We all want it to be better and I think it will be.
Not JJ's fault the oline couldn't open a hole for the running backs.

Behind a terrible Oline and no running back he still played well enough to have the stats I posted.

With an improved Oline comes an improved running game which comes an improved passing game.

I admitted he needed to improve and obviously needs to take less sacks. But he wasn't atrocious last year.

Great post.

Went to a public school and wasn't "red-shirted" like Barkely was at Mater Dei. Thirteen days apart and not in the same class? Mater Dei and Curtis/Evangel are exact type of programs.

Not saying he doesn't have his moments. But he's not consistent. Go look at the pass at the end of the Bama game where Toliver beats Robby Green but Lee's throw is behind Toliver and Green picks it.

We can all pick our highlights or lowlights. But Lee has accuracy issues in the medium to short range.

You would think so, but it didn't really work like that last year.

Look at Auburn - JJ played pretty awesome in that one. He threw for over 240 yards with 2 passing TDs and had impressive runs that included a rushing TD. Yet, we still didn't average 4 yards per carry. And that was with a 69-yard run from Shep (our longest in three years). Charles Scott averaged 2 yards per carry.

Against State JJ threw for over 230 yards I believe along with 2 passing TDs and we averaged 1 yard per rush.

Even against Ole Miss and Penn State when JJ threw for over 200 in each, we averaged 1 yard per rush. They weren't his best games, but the passing game was pretty much it in those games.

It would help if he played 30% better, but without a noticeable improvement in the running game (which I hope we see), we'd still get beat.

I remember when Jamarcus Russell was horrible his first full year as a starter and things turned out pretty good for his career at LSU

Not sure if 15% is the exact amount, but neither QB has to change dramatically

JJ- take some shots downfield any don't worry about IF it gets picked.

JL - take an extra second to scan the D pre snap and plant your back foot when you throw.

If these small things happen, which they should easily do, plus improved Oline play would mean a special season.

I AM A BELIEVER!!! ( For now )
