Alabama playing Tulane would have zero affect on recruiting IMO.

They already have a home and home with Alabama. Sort of. Tulane already played the home game in Tuscaloosa last year, but Alabama "postponed" the return game this year in the Dome. Tulane is now playing BYU this year instead of Alabama. Who knows if that return game will ever be played?

Amazing how much all those CUSA crybabies, mostly from teams OTHER than Tulane, hate LSU!

Let's wash our hands with them once and for all, in EVERY aspect (football, basketball, and baseball). And, tell them flat out don't call us when you need to fill in an open date for a game. Time for Tulane to COMPLETELY sever ties with LSU, for once, for all, and forever.

You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Without LSU playing them and subsidizing their athletic programs, they'll probably drop all sports in a few years......

If the point of playing Toolame in New Orleans is for us to get exposure in that market, then LSU would be better served by scheduling a game with a BCS conference team to be played there, rather than playing the local minor league team.

From what I understand, we do get a huge portion of the gate at the Tulane Dome games.

However, I think Skip overestimated the demand for the tickets. The last time we played in the Dome, we didn't see out our allotment, i.e., we left a lot of money on the table.

Our group got something like 20 decent tickets together simply by calling the ticket office and asking them to put our tickets together.

But, I do remember, we didn't even sell our allotment. And, given that and the number of tickets available, I know a lot of people who said they weren't going to order tickets from LSU in the future because they could get "better" tickets a lot cheaper on the secondardy market. Again, this means that LSU will "lose" a lot more money with Tulane games in the future even with lopsided deal with get with Dome games.

So, I would have to agree with Alleva. But, I really don't want to play teams like McNeese or Northwestern. All this talk about "keeping the money in-state" is hogwash. If we pay Northern Colorade $700,000 to come down and get an arse whoopin, and McNeese gets $700,000 to get its arse wooped by the University of Colorado, it's a financial wash.

we need to play Nebraska and see if we can get talks with A&M again. Hell, Southern Miss would be a decent team to play as well. We have a bunch of teams that LSU fans would love to play, but i doubt it happens

As I understand it, it is actually a home game for LSU. If that is the case, then we should expect a big portion of the gate proceeds.

To-lame.... who gives a rat's arse about their insignificant opinions... I love the comments about LSU fans thinking Tulane would bennefit more if they went to the game. That being the reason they "boycotted" the game. Idiots don't realize the main reason was because ESPN (who hates LSU) moved the damn game to 11:30 in the damn morning. While To-lame fans are used to playing games this early when no one is paying attention, we are not. So this is for the To-lamers

As long as the current AD is at aTm, they won't play us.

meh, LSU is obviously the power player in this situation and will do what they feel is better financially, but tulane's football program isn't exactly going to go under without this series. TU has had to pass on some lucratives offers from other schools due to this deal.

All you need to know about Tulane is that the reason they dropped out of the SEC in the early '60's was becaue they felt that as an Indy they could be like Notre Dame! They would not be limited in who they could play and would have more of a national appeal and would displace LSU as La.'s top school.
I'm not kidding!
However, they realized their mistake and wanted LSU to sponsor them to rejoin the conference when it expanded to 12 teams and SC and Arky came in. We all know that was a better deal for LSU and the conference as a whole how that worked out.
Being an Old Timer and knowing the history of LSU and Tulane, the passionate dislike the fans have for each other and the fact that many of the players know and played against each other and how they feel, I would like to see us continue to play them as much as possible. There is no reason but stubborn pride on the Greenie Wienies part to keep that from happening.
It would seem some people never learn. They just continue to cut their nose off to spite their face. "Pride goeth before a fall."
