The reason Tulane left the SEC wasn't at all what you posted, it was almost the opposite. A group of professors/faculty were successful in deemphasizing athletics at Tulane. They raised the admission standards, cut funding, and left the SEC.

bingo. the thought that tulane was trying to become the notre dame of the south and overtake LSU in louisiana is ridiculous.

How getting McNeese in BR is worth breaking a contract with Tulane in the Dome where we control a large portion of the tickets is a matter opinion. It strikes me as absurd.

What amount of money difference would you need to see to make it NOT absurd? You have a strong opinion on this so obviously you've thought this through.

Remember, this is a 10 year deal and I believe we owe them 4 (maybe 3) appearances.

I was being somewhat facetious when I posted that of course. But part of the reason Tulane left the SEC was because they felt they would be more successful as an Indy, just like Ga. Tech did when they left.
It was only a few years later when the program fell to such a low point that they nearly disbanded virtually the entire athletic program, which is something entirely different and at a different time than when they left the SEC.
And you cannot deny that Tulane came to LSU on bended knee to sponsor/promote them to rejoin when the SEC expanded to 12 teams.
I don't know how old you Greenies are but I'm 61 and have followed LSU sports for years. I remember these events vividly.
The relationship between LSU and Tulane is very comparable to the relationship between OU and OSU here in Oklahoma.
Personally I hope they can work it out so we can still play them. I love to hate Tulane!
And for those unfamiliar with SEC history, at one time in the 30's and 40's Tulane was practically THE power of the SEC. Ga. Tech was pretty damn good as well.

Baby, there is NOTHING inferior about me! It's just that you toolame turds demand a response, and you should all crawl back in between the buttocks you slinked out of, and stay off our Board. Get your own, maybe you can find another toolame fan to speak to you. You could tell each other how smart you are and how great your school is. We LSU fans have no interest in your thoughts or lies or jealousy. The reason you chose green for your school colors, besides money (greenbacks), is because green also represents envy!! Eat your heart (or whatever you have) out. We are better, always were, always will be. We are the big boys, you are turds.

Dropping Tulane in NO under a contract where we control the gate to bring McNeese and Northwestern to Baton Rouge is great AD work.

Well, bringing in MSU and NSU is nothing to be happy about, but trading a useless game with Tulane for at least a money-making home game is a good idea. We don't "control the gate" for those games in N.O. We get 40,000 tickets...compared to 92,000 for a home game. Plus we don't get any of the ancillary revenue that we get from home games. It's not like a normal road game, but it is a far cry from a home game.

The bottom line is that, if our financial needs are such that we can only play very few road games outside of the conference, why on earth would we waste ANY of these precious road game opportunities on freaking TULANE?

The deal was stupid to begin with. It was nothing but Skip Bertman being charitable to Tulane with OUR money. He served the interests of Tulane, "the state", New Orleans businesses and whoever else, but not the interests of his employer...LSU.

an inferiority complex doesn't necessarily mean that you are inferior. your verbose, vitriolic posts in every single thread involving tulane signal some underlying issues. what university did you attend?
