Pretty much all of the non-transfer guys on this roster are Mainieri staff recruits.

With that said, it's dumb as hell to give much credit to anyone other than Johnson for whatever the end result of this season is, just like it's still dumb as shite anytime anyone tries to shite on Mainieri by saying he won with Smoke's players.

Not a call to give PM credit just observation. Shows pitching was big problem for CPM.

With a ton of credit given to the guys coming on strong lately, pitching is still the biggest challenge we have

Simply noting his contribution. Not an opinion on credit. The lack of pitchers is the difference really.

It’s well known that Jay had to re-recruit a ton of players. That makes things very different from the Smoke to PM transition when changing commitments and transfers were nothing like they are today.

But this is misleading as hell because 1) pitching is still the biggest struggle with this team and 2) That pitching complaint about Mainieri's team would seen a little silly if we had one or two full seasons of a Jaden Hill/Cole Henry/Landon Marceaux rotation after the 2017 season.

Every coach has to re-recruit after a coaching change, so that's not that big of a deal. Also, the foundation Mainieri took over was a lot worse than what Johnson took over.

Along with those quoted the following also either played for, signed with, or committed to Mainieri:
Guidry
Milazzo
Floyd
Neal
Dutton
Jones
Stevenson
Kling
Moffett
Frey
Herring
Ruddell?
Primeaux?
Edwards
Money
Hellmers
Coleman
Taylor
Merrifield

I wouldn’t say a lot worse.
