He called out the offense too. But because of how the thread is titled people think that's all he said.

Crawfishing and he still does not do it right. No mention that a single play or defensive play not costing a game.

CPM getting ready for his career in politics.

Last night.

I don't think I agree with the majority here. The way he said, IMO, in coach speak, says to me he thought it was an unfortunate, fluky play. Which it was. I think we drill coaches on quotes and he misspoke

He said it twice. Once per interview. He did not "misspeak"

All I have to say about it is, I wouldn't stand next to CPM at a bus stop...

Both are true statements. One play can certainly make a difference in the outcome of a close game and I think that's all CPM was trying to say. I'm sure he is well-aware that the Deichmann play was not the sole reason they lost the game.

Then why did he specifically say it was? Twice.

Did he specifically say it was the only reason they lost the game? This is a silly semantics argument at this point. He certainly talked about how they didn't hit great and didn't adjust to their pitcher well. He just singled out the Deichmann play as one of those plays you have to make in a really tight game like that with little margin for error.

Yes.

He did go on to talk about the hitting being off balance. But that was when he was talking in general about the game. He didn't blame that for the loss.

Yes, he said it was the reason they lost. You're just being obtuse at this point.

How about looking in the mirror, using a guy with a freaking .053 average on the year who has zero bussiness being in the batters box and hitting and running with the ony 2 base runners in the first 4 innings on the first pitch?

That guy also made a catch that beau jordan would have never made in left field to keep the ballgame at 2-0. CPM was in a bind with beau jordan out ill. Brody wofford has zero range in the OF so your only other choice was Ducote who has also not done much at the plate but swing at everything. breaux was playing because of his defense, and it actually worked. The other 8 batters almost always can make up for one poor bat. See Papierski, Michael and all of the rest of the order in the 30 games Mike has participated in. You can afford one defense over bat in the lineup.
