Being nationally ranked at #4 is not really insult material. imo

Cowherd is a retard. Not just for this. His radio show is a joke.

If you haven't figured out by now that Cowherd is a complete contrarian, I don't know what to tell you.

How can the media honestly pick another team from another conference over the two best SEC teams considering what the SEC has done recently?...they have to do it only to get under everyone's skin in SEC country.

No, they have to do it so they get viewers, leaders and listeners from somewhere other than the South.

Perennially over-hyped (save for FSU). That in itself goes to show you how little value preseason rankings have.

do you agree that they should do away with preseason rankings?

Self proclaimed lover of big markets... you obviously listen to his show but don't know this?

He knows who listens, he knows who pays money, he knows who to cater to. All he cares about are ratings and $$$ and has no qualms about that.

There is talk that they might do away with rankings period. As part of the new 4 team playoff deal they are discussing the possibility of not having rankings and putting teams in "pools", i.e. these 4 teams are the top, then there is this group of 4, this group of 4 and so on...and not even necessarily that the top "group" would be the 4 teams in the playoff that year.

Honest answer: Besides the bias they may have for west coast and big market teams, there is also the idea that the SECw is so tough that for a team to come out unscathed is unlikely. It will be easier for OU, USC or Oregon to come out without a loss. If 2 of those teams come out with no losses and LSU loses to Bama, Bama loses ot Arky and Arky loses to us...

While what you say has merit, it has to be noted that the SEC West/SEC houses the last 6 BCSCG winners.

I think if I'm penning that story, my ranking is gonna be topped by an SEC team till the rest of college football proves they can beat an SEC team in that game.

Polarbehr, I do not think they should go away because they are great for marketing purposes. Also, because we will be going to a playoff soon, the argument that preseason rankings prevent certain schools from winning a championship will be somewhat rendered moot.

I am not a big Cowherd fan, but I don't really have a problem with this line of thinking:

"He said LSU's QBs are raw/unproven and though they might be the most talented team in the country everywhere else...you can't be SO unproven at QB to be top 3."
