This.

If fans and reporters can tell Miles is in over his head, then other coaches can too. Remember Saban when he came asked the powers that be why wasn't LSU always playing for championships?

A good coach will understand and welcome the expectations we have.

Stop this. This argument has been squashed over and over.

Even the "Look at Nebraska" argument that the same people use completely refutes this. Nebraska fired 58-19 Solich and hired an NFL Super Bowl participant coach.

Money, facilities, opportunity. That's what coaches look for.

"So, let me get this straight. I get to have a 19 year old QB, new defensive scheme, and still manage to win 8 or 9 games and I get canned? Oh, that's right. There was that timeout debacle against the team that kicked our arse up and down the field. Wait, didn't I win a national championship two years ago, and bring in the #2 recruiting class in the country last year?"

While your point has some morality to it, I believe a high profile coach would look at the LSU job, the program the talent and jump at the chance. High profile coaches have big egos.

And this is why I don't want an NFL coach. For the one Jimmy Johnson there have been many, many Bill Callahans.

Idk wth it's going to take for people to realize how much talent we have....and we are barely beating teams we normally kill....and there's no passing up our SEC record from the past two years....need I remind anyone...7-8! How many times do i have to slap myself in the face so I can realize that this is really happening...

I agree. But remember, Perrilloux should be the quarterback. Everything would be different if Ryan was still slinging back there. We'd be going for three in a row

Didn't seem to affect Nick Saban when Bama came a callin:

Mike Shula
2005 10-2 Cotton Bowl champs
2006 6-6 headed to the Indy bowl
16-8 in his last two seasons

Les Miles
2008 8-5
2009 8-3
16-8 in his last two seasons

So now what was your point?

how can you jackasses not understand that we will not be able to fire les and still pay another top-flight coach 3-4 million dollars a year?

how can you jackasses not understand that even if Miles doesn't win a game again for the next two years, it will still cost the same to buy him out.

So you're saying we are stuck with him for the next decade no matter what happens?

I think there are a lot more variables to Nebraska's decline than just a coaching change. Talent is more evenly distributed and not concentrated in a couple of perrenial powerhouses. Who wants to live in Nebraska anyway. Besides, I bet there were personal or leadership issues with Solich that contributed to his dismissal.

Totally agree about HC's having huge ego's and being offered the keys to this program. Especially a coach who has done more with less and been paid less than half of what he would be offered at LSU. He couldn't pass it up, regardless of the last coaches success or lack thereof.

I've got a solution:

Hire Patterson from TCU as OC and head coach in waiting....lol. Seriously, he's killing it at TCU. And they've beaten some BCS ranked teams along the way. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Though, I'm 99.9% he wouldn't take an OC position.

The rest of the coaches in the country know how poorly coached we are. Every week, our opponents say, "Wow, that's a lot of good athletes out there." Yet everyweek, we either struggle against far inferior opponents, La Tech and Miss St, or we lose to teams with comparable talent.

All year LSU fans whine that ESPN hates LSU, they always pick against us. Tommy Tubberville says we are the worst offense in the SEC. These analyst see what is on the field and shake their heads at how poor the results are. Urban Meyer wasn't scared to take on the challenge at Florida. Nick Saban wasn't scared to take on the challenge at Alabama.

LSU can attract a good coach.
