on the next coach wanting to come here.

"So, let me get this straight. I get to have a 19 year old QB, new defensive scheme, and still manage to win 8 or 9 games and I get canned? Oh, that's right. There was that timeout debacle against the team that kicked our arse up and down the field. Wait, didn't I win a national championship two years ago, and bring in the #2 recruiting class in the country last year?"

It's not just the 8-9 wins....

Repeat until you understand.

It's the way we play. It's the way we play in victories (Washington, MSU, La Tech, Troy last year, the list goes on). It's the way we lose.

It's the fact after seemingly "fixing" the problems last year, we are now 106th in total offense.

And finally, it's what happened in the final minute of the Ole Miss game.

Miles. His lack of coaching. His lack of management. His lack of competency.

This has been discussed a million times. Throwing 4 million dollars will draw many coaches. What you are posting is a myth.

I get it, but if Miles is fired, it's got to come up in the next candidates mind. Right?

As legitimate as that might be (and I think it is), there's a number of different ways a potential hire might look at it.

For instance:

"You mean I get to inherit all that talent AND get to sit on top of a fertile recruiting spot? Sign me up!"

Ron Zook did not win a national championship. Also - see Nebraska.

any coach of value will recognize the incompetence we have at the present time, and completely understand why a school of our stature would act...if a coach is scared to come here w/expectations that he can coast on 8 wins a year, well, we don't need him

how can you jackasses not understand that we will not be able to fire les and still pay another top-flight coach 3-4 million dollars a year?

what it says is you have to do your job to the best of your ability every day. 2 years ago is 2 years ago. We already paid you for 2 years ago. We shouldn't have a team kicking our arse up and down the field if you are doing your damn job. If you're not the man for the job, we'll find someone else to give our money to. - Simple really.

WTF does 8 or 9 wins matter when you buy 4 of those? La Tech, ULL, Tulane, and Washington were bought and paid for wins for Les. He is 7-8 in the past 2 years in the SEC. THAT is why he should be fired, mediocrity.

the next guy could also say, "wow, Les Miles bungled his way into getting an NC ring. I aught to be able to get 2 or 3 just by being competent."

I'm not terribly optimistic, but it could be a 10-win season this year. Just sayin

I don't know for sure, but after watching Saturday's game, I'd say there's probably 90 or 100 Division I head coaches who think they could do better than Les Miles with LSU's talent.

And, about 80 or 9o of them are right.

Remember, though we're ranked 105th in the nation in offense, so about 5-10 D-1 coaches are probably selling themselves short.

Not 1 of those wins would come against a top 25 opponent either.
