He was one our main headliners that year

He most definitely was ranked a 5 star

Amazing, how does this team win 10 games without some of you running it? I mean there's no way you're wrong and the LSU coaches are right.

Oh what could have been, the rant coaching staff + Davenport. Oh and maybe his dad to get him the ball so he could out run everyone.

Uhh he couldn't crack the two-deep. That's what we were thinking.

And Terrence Magee may have been our best RB all along, but Miles made him wait a long time to get some real action. Maybe CD was a good DT when at LSU, but never got a chance to show it.

who would you have started him ahead of?

i was speaking of my thinking when we signed him. Chief had had success with big DTs, we'd just signed a big 5 star DT, seemed like he'd be a star.

obviously he didn't pan out once he got to LSU, so I wasn't advocating him starting over anyone. though I'm pretty sure I did wonder why given the OL injuries last yr he never got a whiff of starting and/ or being a part of the rotation. what's the point of listing a guy at #2 LT if 2 other guys who didn't play there were tried when the starter goes down? seemed odd to me. that article's the first time I'd seen that discussed in the media.

It's clear that Dworaczyk was a Miles/Studrawa favorite. Davenport should have been given a chance last year.

Incredible! Read the thread, man. He was a fat-arse and was way out of shape. It obviously took him a few years to grow up. It cracks me up you guys who think you read TD and Rivals and you know more than the coaches.

He started his career as a DL at LSU. He has always had weight issues, and he does not move well. He is not an SEC lineman. I am glad that he got his chance to start at Tulane and good luck to him.

I'm basing what I say on what I see with my own eyes, not off of what I read on this or any other site. You can't dispute what I'm saying so you go to the default idea of the infallibility of Miles. Take that bullshite somewhere else. Dworaczyk was always a SOFT football player.

Davenport was listed at 330 last year. I watched him at 334 last night dominate Andre Huval:

quote:

12/18/13 - 2013 ALL-SUN BELT FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): Andre Huval (UL-Lafayette,Sr., OL),...Huval, a senior from Scott, La., has started 38 straight games at center for the Cajuns, anchoring one of the best offensive lines in the league. He has helped Louisiana to lead the Sun Belt and rank 26th nationally in rushing (207.6). A two-time Capital One Academic All-District selection, Huval has twice been named to the preseason watch list by the Rimington Trophy, which annually goes to the nation's top center. - UL-Lafayette football

As I've already stated, I don't think that translates to the SEC, and I don't think he had an opportunity to play a significant role at DT for LSU. I don't think he has the tenacity, explosion, or attacking nature to excel on defense in the SEC.

However, I do think he is physically superior to Josh Dworaczyk, in terms of both power and agility. Now, the weight gain, I don't know what happened there, but I don't think he gained 40 pounds from weigh-ins to the time of Faulk's injury, and from a strictly physical standpoint, I think he should have been given a shot when Faulk went down.

Absolutely he was a 5 star recruit out of Mansfield. Classic case of he was biggest kid in highschool dominating inferior competition. From the moment he got to LSU it was obvious he was outclassed and after years of not breaking the defensive lineup he moved to the OL to see if he could there. Great kid, beautiful singing voice, but not SEC caliber football player for LSU. He was given every opportunity to make it at LSU.

LSU2006,

Man you brought this whole board down to the 1800s and 1900s with so much diversity in the world now.

"Cracked me up in the broadcast when the color guy said "What was LSU thinking!?"

He had played Tackle for like a year. So much of it is technique, and it requires a much higher football IQ than DT.

This is just one of many examples of why LSU should have no trouble finding a better OL coach than Studrawa. I thought Josh D and Hebert were both given chances that their skills did not merit--in addition to his subpar recruiting in NE LA.

Yet you're overlooking the fact that Dworaczyk did really well at LT in 2012. Mainly because of his knowledge and chemistry with Collins. We would have lost an additional game or two without him there.

I'll take a 6th year senior who's been playing OL his whole life over a guy with average ability that's only been at the position for less than a year

It's a great question....compelling and rich.

We actually recruited him as a DT, he didn't make it there, then he moved to OL.
