I said all along I thought Chavis leaving was a win-win for all 3 parties. Chavis is a very good DC and has improved the aggie D a lot. his weakness is and always has been recruiting. UT fans warned us and they were right. and being saddled with Haley as the DL coach and weak recruiter made it worse. still, Miles was going to keep him. him leaving got him the guaranteed contract he wanted. it's for 3 years and he may go home to the east Tennessee mountains after that.

and LSU won also. Chavis was getting stale and he, as the DC, had allowed the DL and LB to get weak. imo, he got complacent and also, imo, he is "lazy". he works hard but not at recruiting which is pretty damn critical. so, two yrs later we end up with much, much improved recruiting and a much, much better DL coach and probably as good (or better) DC.

the chavis tenure was basically two chapters; really good for the first 3 years or so and due to poor recruiting for the front 7 poor in the last 3 years or so.

He will be able to build a good defense at TAMU simply because the state of Texas has the talent to be able to build good defenses. So Chavis and TAMU competing against LSU going forward will be a lot more difficult than it was this year, and if you don't believe that you truly don't know football.

well, it seems that him being at A&M is not exactly resulting in all that great talent choosing them. they are struggling like hell to sign...........................wait for it.......................LINEBACKERS AND DEFENSIVE LINEMEN.

Chavis is a damn good DC. he sucks at recruiting. I think he's simply biding his time till retirement.

Steele is a fantastic recruiter, I am sure that played heavily into it

All I know is that Chavis gave us those 9-10 win seasons from 09-2013. The Miles offense has sucked for 7 years and Chavis bailed him out!!

None of us liked the John Chavis 2 minute defense but other than that he was excellent.

I don't like how he left us either, but he has more seniority than Miles in the SEC, he isn't going to "let" Miles allow him to look for others jobs.

No he saw an opportunity where he wouldn't have to BAIL OUT THE HEAD COACH EVERY FRICKIN' GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love that you call lsu winning games "bailing out the head coach". That makes no fricking sense whatsoever. The head coach is responsible for the whole team.

Hopefully miles keeps lsu winning in order to make you more miserable.

BeeFense- ???wow you're a moron!! Chavis knew his defense wouldn't be called on to win every game at atm there is absolutely zero pressure on him. Everybody knows atm wins by offensive shootouts!

Chavis had so much pressure on him at LSU because if his defense didn't hold a team to 14-17 points we would lose.

You thinking chavis left because of offense and not a guaranteed contract proves you shouldn't be taken serious.

Might be the worst case of confirmation bias I have seen on here

Beefense- If you can't admit that Chavis saved Miles job and bailed him out in 2009-2010 then wow your just an idiot.
Let me break it down for you.
#1 Les is not going to change his offensive philosophy.
#2 Chavis defense did bail out LsU's poor offense in many many games between 09-2014.
#3 Steele was not going to cut it with the offense we run.
#4 Miles knew he had to get a better DC to "Bail him OUT" again and save his job for a few more years.

Dude we all know about the contract!!! I'm talking about what he was tired of dealing with behind closed doors.

Yeah, the most successful coach in school history only wins because he was "bailed out"

Please continue

Also you trying to discredit wins by the head coach of the fricking team and credit them to underlings in his staff is epically awesome and hilarious at the same time.

News flash retard, miles is responsible for the whole team. You can't pin losses on him without giving him the wins.

What was he tired of? Obviously recruiting since he didn't do any the last two years he was here.

This is awesome. Please keep going and trashing your supposed favorite team to defend chavis

I'm glad we hired Aranda ;however, I don't think he will give us more wins.

Again we all know about the contract with Chavis. I'm pointing out the fact that Chavis kept our program afloat and a ton of pressure was put on his defense. The job Atm has no pressure because they don't expect much, and he did improve their defense btw. If you're getting close to retirement which would you rather??

Newsflash retard a lot of diehard LSU fans don't like Les so your statement is irrelevant.

If Chavis wasn't hear in 09-10.LSU would have lost 5-6 games each of those years and your beloved Miles would have been fired. His record the past 5 years would be null and void. The offense which CLM had a huge input in since 09 struggled mightily. So I repeat Chavis Bailed out Miles over and over again.

It's not surprising that lsu has a large segment of really terrible fans that shouldn't be taken seriously in football discussion.

You crediting all wins to john chavis and blaming all losses on miles totally discredits anything you have to say about football in general
