So is Etling playing with a different Line and WRs than Harris was?

Yeah it doesn't make sense that Etling gets the benefit of the doubt, especially since Harris possibly had the disadvantage of playing in a more stubborn system.

plenty of separation

Etling just either 1) threw it behind them so they had to come back to receiver or 2) threw it too late to where the DB had time to get to the WR or 3) held the ball too long and took the sack

After game 1 the calls for Etling were everywhere and Brandon was just a bad QB. Now all are back on the Harris train....

Yes, right after you hire a offensive minded HC who then replaces the rest of the offensive coaches as he sees fit. Sure.

It's madness...kid has a bad game against the best team in the country and it's time to go back to the QB that everyone wanted benched in the first place.

Sometimes all you can do is

Coach O said during post game that danny etling is no doubt our guy moving forward. He's too nervous to try anything different like a qb change. Could be too late in the season. I just want to see the better arm for a few plays

No. I included the STATS FROM EVERY ETLING GAME. He has never been good or better than Harris. I have been saying that since the beginning. Against worse competition, with a less stubborn coach, with better footwork and presence blah blah, he still has been less effective than Harris

I agree for the most part. Just find it interesting that people are just now starting to like the blame the line and not the QB excuse.

It's both honestly. Bad QB decisions can make a decent offensive line look like shite and vice versa. It's lose lose with these two groups. Like everyone has been saying and most been denying, LSU and Danny Etling had played nobody on defense before this game, so once again Alabama puts everything about our season back into perspective.

There absolutely should be an open QB battle.

Hopefully Coach Herman will let Etling, Harris (if still @ LSU), Scott, Brennan and Narcisse go at it and may the best man win.

I never came on here bitching about our QB, either one. You want to bitch about Etling, then maybe you need to look deeper. Our Oline is not top notch, not bad, not elite, but got their asses owned Sat night. Our WRs are not that good.

As long as they offensive line continues to get thrown around like rag dolls, it won't really matter IMO. 6 one way, half dozen the other.

This! Our O-line is, maybe, the worst we have had in years. But to echo another post, I say open the QB position up to all QB's on the team! There has got to be somebody who can spark this offense in some way.

I think you're making the point he should have played vs Bama...I disagree but I understand the argument.

There's folks around here arguing that Harris deserves another shot based on Etling's play. Their numbers are close...but that's not the entire story. I'll take the guy who can hit the short to intermediate passes (sans Bama game...I get that), than the guy who has the deep ball and that's it.

this thread is about this off season and about it being an open battle

Etling hasn't done enough to secure his spot for next year

I personally dont think he has done enough to secure it for this year. I dont get why we didnt give Harris a shot Sat when Etling clearly didnt have it. For all of Les' faults, he won the 2011 game for us by doing that. I thought Coach O had the cajones to pull the trigger

I'm juggling threads...I think it would be silly for any coach to enter a new job and anyone on the team have a starting spot locked up already.

So the guy that throws the deep ball is at 54%, and the short ball guy is only at 59%?

Ill take the deep ball guy then
