I'd have been fine if Cam had left for greener pastures, but if he's gonna stay you have to extend him that long. Hard to recruit anybody--especially QBs--if he doesn't have that. His salary and buyout numbers will be interesting,though.

The years don't matter except giving the illusion of continuity for recruiting. It's like NFL contracts for 8 years and 100+ million. All that matters is what's guaranteed. You can still be cut at any time.
Just like with Cam, all that really matters is his buyout. He can be fired at anytime.

The length of the extension is more worrisome for me. One year should have been it. This is make or break for 2016.
If they don't improve the offense (play calling, QB play, philosophy, etc), I don't see how you don't fire Cam.
