Perhaps, but I don't know that it was regularly played at that point. I can't remember it being featured until sometime after Miles started coaching.

Because it wasn't. This tradition is barely 10 years old.

That's not to say it wasn't thrown into the mix of various things played in the stadium before the game, but it was not a part of the pregame in any official way (essentially ending the team's warm-up as they punt to midfield and form their jump around circle) until fairly recently.

But, as is the want of the internet, you guys can continue to fight about this if you'd like...

One thing I've always wished is that in addition to the videos they seem to play each week, they'd work up a game specific one featuring big plays against the team LSU is playing that week. This is obviously mostly for SEC games...but think of how cool it would be to have an AU or BAMA specific video before the game, or for Ole Miss, or Florida featuring plays from decades worth of games between the two programs?

They did a very brief video like this for 2014 Bama. I think it started withe footage from the Bear's days and forward it wasn't too long, but it made me think this should be a thing for every Bama, OM and UF game.

I'm not a fan of "Calling Baton Rouge" but it's MUCH better than that "Weezy-ana" BS that makes a bunch of people act like fools.

You can quickly differentiate between civilized human beings and those who should be kept in a zoo when it plays. If I offended anyone...too bad. Suck it up liberal.

Much much much much better song.
agreed. At least it has more meaning and is more closely associated with the activities surrounding an LSU football game. Calling Baton Rouge is a fun sounding song but the lyrics are stupid and really has no relevance other than the mention of Baton Rouge.

I agree. You only need to change the city and state, and the song would be fitting for anywhere you want. That being said, it has a catchy tune with a lot of energy.

quote:

Louisiana Saturday Night

Yawn. The song also has nothing to do with a football game, and once again would be fitting for pretty much any southern state. The tune is quite subdued in comparison, so I'll take "Callin Baton Rouge" over "Louisiana Satuday Night" any day.

It's only been part of the pregame deal in Tiger Stadium for a few years. It's only been under Les, and probably only since about 2007.

Wrong. I moved away after Katrina and I clearly remember this song being played when I was there, I think as far back as late DiNardo.

Maybe, but it doesn't get much better than:

"I spent last night in the arms of a girl from

LOUISIANA!!"

I think that's a great moment. As is the end of the song where the team huddles and then jogs off as the song closes out.
