Were you surprised, disappointed, or happy when Bronco Mendenhall left for Virginia?

Pleasant surprise. Great man, but things had just gotten stale. He knew he wasn't getting extended after 2016 so he went for a pretty good payday. Don't blame him one bit.

He's a PR headscratcher. Won't do anything to embarrass the institution, but just says and does things that just make you go, "What the crap was that?"

Recruiting was not where it needed to be, and the feeling of the program was more of a Church meeting than a football program. Night and day difference with Coach Sitake. He'll uphold the required standards, but he won't beat you over the head with them, either. Have yet to hear from someone who doesn't like him.

And he's a link to Lavell Edwards, who built the program. First time since Lavell retired that we finally have one of his guys at the helm again. And that bleeds throughout the coaching staff starting with Heisman winner at OC Ty Detmer.

So it's a back to our roots type of transition where it's fun to be associated with BYU again. Still hate to lose, but a much more enjoyable ride.

My interactions with all the Mormons I've worked with or lived around, and I'm talking some where around 200 or so, are nothing like what you've described.

I have met some nice, decent mormons, but the majority I've dealt with are anything but kind and caring.

My favorite interaction was with the Texas fans leading up to our game in 2013. "You can't compete with our Top 5 recruiting classes the last five years! You don't have the skill anywhere on the field to keep up!" Well, after pasting them for 550 rushing yards and winning 40-21, they fired their DC on the plane ride back to Austin.

This shows that you are misguided as you assume the 2013 UT defense is comparable to the talent, experience and coaching of this LSU defense. This LSU defense is loaded with guys that are going to get drafted and coached by the best DC in football in Dave Aranda.

I see BYU playing a game before LSU as a further disadvantage because Aranda will have a game tape to dissect while your defensive coaches will have no idea what type of plays LSU plans to incorporate on offense. As far as knocking off rust, LSU's first teams can scrimmage its second teams in preparation for playing BYU and would face stiffer competition than Portland State offers BYU in the opening game.

If this game winds up 41-7, it will be BYU on the short end. BYU would not score 41 points against this LSU defense in 8 quarters of football, much less four.

Lol. The fact you are comparing the Lsu defense to Texas says all we need to know. Well that, and you keep saying other power 5 schools. You have won a few games, bit the majority of the wins came against horrible power 5 teams. Look no further than last year. Lsu is a top 5 program over the last few decades, with a very good D...this is going to be fun. Comical that you compare Lsu to a Texas.

I read a stat last year that Coach Aranda himself indicated he only installed 25% of his defense.

If that's the case, BYU's will be blindsided by defensive schemes they haven't seen on film.

You see this is what makes tRant so much fun. You sound like a well respected fan of BYU. Sounds like you have a hot Mormon wife, maybe a few kids, you guys probably take part in a non-trashy pastime like snow skiing.

And with only a few weeks left until kickoff, because of you, we get to learn a little about the fans from another school other than the SEC.

Now kindly frick off and suck that tiger dick, bitch!

And now, O man, remember, and perish not."

They have their good and bad. My SIL escaped the family before they had her get involved with the polygamy. Her family isn't worth a damn. On the other hand, I've met some that seem like very nice people.

After reading a couple of your post, I'm pretty much convinced that you know more about our team compared to some of the Rantards around here.

Do most kids on your team bring a lunch pale to work? Gym rat? Workout warrior? A real high iq type football player..

Oh yes, of course. Just like every religion, or race, political groups or whatever.

I certainly didn't mean to give the impression that I think the BYU fan in this thread is a shite-head. He sounds like a decent guy.

Both a BYU and an LSU alum here (I may be the only one on the planet), grew up in BTR, was in Tiger Band.

If this were simply about recruited talent, LSU wins big time. However, here's the concern for me: BYU has a legit top 20 defense, and LSU is installing a new offense with only one great skill position player (DG), a decimated offensive line, and an inexperienced WR corp (exception Chark).

I see this as low scoring, like 21-17, Tigers.
