Well this is pretty much set in stone now under Jones. It's not like he's ever gonna get a chance to prove anyone wrong, unless he knows/hires another Godfather to the best prospect in the land.

ESPN put Simmons up on the pedestal and now their talking heads act like they bear no responsibility for the ego clash.
This is Johnny Jones' fault FOR SURE, but if you couldn't see that the ESPN hype machine was going to create havoc, especially with such a weak-minded coach, then you weren't paying attention.

Brady had his moments but he lost control at the end. He was wildly inconsistent from year to year. It was the right time to fire him, Joe just botched the hire by hiring trent johnson. People tried to buy in sighting his coaching getting nevada to the dance, but it wasn't a great fit at all. Then we doubled down and fricked it up even worse hiring Jones.

Coaches that have to recruit and compete against one another do. Pearl is just saying what every other coach competing against LSU for recruits is going to say privately "Don't make the mistake of going play for Jones". Right, wrong or indifferent, that is going to be the narrative from here on out, and it's one of the many reasons LSU NEEDS to make a change immediately. Waiting a year to make a change is going to do nothing more than sink the program further. There are two good Louisiana recruiting classes in 2017 and 2018. LSU cannot afford to be left out in the cold with those guys and you can bet the other coaches are going to use this season as Exhibit A why great players should not go to LSU to play for Jones.
