Stonewalling is a misnomer and anyone with money and sense should absolutely lawyer up as soon as contacted.

Not all of them do, but some absolutely do. BRPD has more liars than most departments.

I am pretty sure that this thread would be half what it is IF Collins had signed with the Saints.

Pay more for more incompetence. I Gotcha. The cops are responsible for every bit of bad publicity that they get. They've orchestrated their own fall with the us vs them mentality. The War on drugs has been a war on people and those people have families. The Good ones covering up for the bad one's paints them all with the same brush. The BRPD fricked Collins over plain and simple.

Police Officers Lie!

Not all of them obviously, but enough to make your statement silly.

Regardless, BRPD behavior in this instance was reprehensible!

What I am saying is that if they lie or do anything underhanded they are COPS and if they do the right thing they are POLICE OFFICERS...hardly silly!

after being exposed as incompetent

I thought that the fact that Baton Rouge is the murder capital of the United States already exposed them as incompetent? God knows they won't miss an opportunity to frick with Collins on draft week or pull me over to see if I'm sober EVERY SINGLE time I pick my friends up from tigerland though

The idea that the BRPD would make comment on the agent's allegations diminishes the department.

All of you idiots with your purple colored glasses on.

BRPD is a joke a lot of time, but this ain't one. Wouldn't let them shite on my department either.

The agent is paid to quarterback this situation

It was the timing that did LC draft stock in and not the agent.

Kevin Mawae, who knows a little bout how pro football works, said there was little any agent could have done which would have changed the outcome once the story broke 5 days before the draft. He also said that once LC went past the 3rd rd., there was no difference in money for him between being drafted and being a FA.

This story makes sense, not the BS that his agent was putting out about not working the weekends or whatever.

I tend to agree. The fact that Hillar Moore was involved supports the story and Moore even confirms the part about Collins refusing to be interviewed on the Thursday of the draft.

Wrong!

The BRPD released the fact they were seeking La'el for questioning from the outset. That wholly inappropriate and highly damaging diarrhea of mouth on BRPD's part appears to have predated La'el obtaining an attorney.

Once again, who else's name was released by the BRPD as being "sought for questioning" in this matter?
Why was La'el's name released by BRPD directly to the press?
What was intended the purpose of that action?

There were several reports that said the leaks came from the NFL side. Do you dispute that?

Not to go off-topic, but that's not on the cops, that's on the people committing the murders.

Whole thing was a mess, but I bet a lot of it was just a result of it being what it was; a bad situation with bad timing for Collins.

"Don't release Collin's name if he's not a suspect"- Fine; except that there are people out there who knew this girl was connected to Collins. If his name got out and the police WEREN'T doing anything, then the "cover-up" accusations fly. And THAT would have stuck with him a lot longer than this has. Notice- he's now been cleared and can get on with his life. Had this surfaced after his draft, you better believe Goodell would have made done something drastic- possibly even suspending him without pay or voiding his contract, until this goes to trial. That could take years.

That was the last time detectives heard directly from any representative of Collins until he, Boren and a private investigator met with detectives at the Violent Crimes Unit inside the State Police headquarters the morning of May 4, Coppola said.

Wait, then how did they know he would only submit a DNA test

Are you seriously trying to draw that distinction?
The leaks TO the NFL, not from it, were what cost La'el (and his agent) millions.

How EXACTLY do you think the NFL acquired that information?
