Cops Lie? As in every single one? I've been doing it wrong for years now. I was in the Marine Corps too any insight as to what I may have done there too?

Getting a lawyer involved in dealing with the BRPD buffoons who had already released his name to the press was not bad advice.

They were probably hoping what would stay quiet until after the draft?
The fact a girl in BR was murdered?
and that La'el was one of a likely 100 or more people who just happened to know her?

Who else's name was released as being "sought for questioning"?
Hmmmm?

It has nothing to do with when the interview was scheduled. BRPD blow it by going public instead of calling the attorney/agent of the suspect. It's not like Collins was going to leave the country. The should be sued for $4 million.

I wish I could respond freely. Unfortunately, saying the truth would get me banned for no good reason. There a reason police and police departments doing a lot of incredibly stupid things.

Cops lie. It comes as no surprise that they're trying to save face after being exposed as incompetent at the national level.

How exactly were they incompetent. They did what they were supposed to do, and that's interview anyone with possible information that could help, and exclude people with alibis. They have a double homicide to investigate, and time is of the essence in those cases. Multiple people had to be interviewed, and they reiterated several times that Collins was not a suspect, they thought he could answer some questions that would help in the investigation. You can thank the actions of Aaron Hernandez, Ray Rice, Greg hardy, and other NFL players committing crimes, for the overreaction of NFL teams not touching Collins, not the police. You can also thank the media, since they love to blow these situations up for headlines, although it was clearly stated that he was not a suspect several times.

Becareful, I share your sentiments; shared my thoughts about the BRPD's tactics and was branded "stupid" and "needing some education" for saying Collins should sue the BRPD, back when the story first broke.

His agent's firm was fully involved. That firm is well known and represented Todd McClure his entire career negotiating record breaking contracts. They knew what they were doing. They actually saved him from being a 7th rd draft pick and now he is a part of a top 3 OL in the NFL.

This is fricking dumb. Yes, they did what you've explained, but it was after they fricked his 1st round position up by the tactics they used.

Day 1. Give a paternity test and let police ask questions.
Day 2. He is cleared and a week later is the #1 OL taken.

For all the hard working law enforcement officers this is a slap to the face. If you don't like what you see then do something about it like support much higher pay scales and demand higher education with all new applicants. It is obvious police officers are under attack all though the country right now and maybe it is time to address how we compensate officers of the law. Right now I do not believe we attracting the best applicants due to low pay and poor image police officer's now have. Really who wants to risk their life every day for a very low pay to protect the very people who look down on them

A degree from a college with a starting salary double what police officers are now making would get us some quality individuals and we can weed out the undesirable ones easily.

Sorry should have said "very quality individuals"

How about they find the murderer before fighting the PR war with Sports Illustrated.

Pretty sure the ones fighting the PR war are not the ones investigating the murder. It's almost as if they have different responsibilities!

The agent is paid to quarterback this situation. Sadly, the agent was as effective as LSU's quarterbacks last season.

BRPD should have never released his name. He was not a person of interest or a suspect. Ever.

They are trying to act innocent but they knew what they were doing. The media ran with collins name and attached it to the story like he was wanted for murder.

It was irresponsible how BRPD handled this but they way they have handled a lot of LSU related cases has been as well.

The bad advice was not meeting with the detectives immediately...

They weren't hoping the murder would be kept quiet just Collins involvement...
Besides, stonewalling the detectives and lawyering up are not what most innocent people do...not talking is probably what led to his name being released...he talks immediately, gets cleared its a non story

Perhaps you are confused. Collins had no "involvement". None!

quote:

...not talking is probably what led to his name being released

Wrong!

The BRPD released the fact they were seeking La'el for questioning from the outset. That wholly inappropriate and highly damaging diarrhea of mouth on BRPD's part appears to have predated La'el obtaining an attorney.

Once again, who else's name was released by the BRPD as being "sought for questioning" in this matter?
Why was La'el's name released by BRPD directly to the press?
What was intended the purpose of that action?

You haven't a clue as to WTF you are talking about.

Police Officers do not. The term COPS is slang and I do not allow my kids to use the term COPS.
