They're keeping him in AA to develop him into a third baseman. I doubt he gets called up to the majors this year

I think they would be smarter to move Correa to 3B. Let Bregman take SS.

He has been a SS this whole time transitioning to third isn't that much different. If the Astros are not in playoff contention he will definitely be a September call up if he isn't called up before then.

They travel to Springfield, MO. in July. I was hoping he'd still be on the roster so we could watch him play. Sounds like the odds are slim on that...so great for him.

Why? Why would they ask their #1DP, current ROY, and face of the franchise to switch the position he has been playing his entire life for an unproven minor leaguer?

How do you think most all star major leaguers would take that request?

That Astros lineup with Bregman, Correa, and Altuve will be pretty sick if Bregman plays into his potential

they just called up their AAA 3b. Think he was hitting like 330. Breg prolly gets the call to AAA soon. But majors this year? Doubt it. Maybe, Maybe when rosters expand and they could use the bat or if they continue to tank and call up the youngness for experience. But teams usually like you to get some good seasoning in AAA. Unless your name is Kyle Schwarber, lol. He flew through the minors as fast as I've ever seen. Stores got a serious log jam in the IF too. Especially if that new 3b guy is legit.

Seems a lot of the parks in the Texas league are hitter friendly, that was the issue with Appel

The from AA to the majors is common as AA is more of a development league.

AAA is more career journeyman or players on the roster that they may want to cycle up and down from their 25 man roster.

I'm not an expert or anything but all of the Cubs young bucks were in AAA for quite some time except schwarber

more common with pitchers. With hitters, if they are raking in AA, they like to call the guys up to AAA where the pitchers are a little more seasoned. If they enjoy short term success there, then they can be up to the majors rather quickly

unless your name is Kris Bryant and your club has other reasons for keeping u down, lol. Glad that blew over and there seems to be no hard feelings. At least until that next contract comes due

He was much worse in A+. I honestly just don't think he's that good, maybe he'll put it together some day.

Flat fastball and doesn't trust his breaking pitches, bad combination.

ETA: Then again, maybe it's a mental thing he needs to get over. Who knows.

yea but even Bryant made AAA in 2014 before that whole service time debacle to start the 2015.

Schwarber also played some at AAA too.

jumping from AA to the MLB has become a pretty big myth. Like i said, a little more common with pitchers as they don't have to be quite as developed as hitters, in order to get people out.

The Cardinals do the same thing. Many of the better franchises (of which the Astros can now be considered) have figured out that it isn't all that great for development to rush a guy to the majors and then send him back down.
