I was really hoping we'd keep him because I felt we'd be better next year. Now we're gonna suck.

OK Joe that's 2 down !
CPM better reach Omaha !
When , if ever, has a school fired both football and basketball head coaches in the same school year?

Have you ever seen a coaching change anywhere the past 10 years that wasnt first speculated by the media? It's unavoidable and a harsh reality to the age of instant information we're in

So when we fired Les Miles it wasn't "classy" and now we Alleva wants to wait to meet with Jones in person and it's still not the right way. I'd love to get a consensus from our fans on the correct way to fire someone
The "right" way would have been to tell Johnny before he went to the SEC Tourney that he will be let go (esp if you knew you would not be in town when the team flies back). Then after LSU loses, you put out a statement saying LSU has fired its head men's basketball coach. Simple - you get out in front of the story, prevent leaks, and seem decisive and in control of the situation. Mizzou did it this way. It's really not that hard.

What does it matter if it's today or tomorrow?
It doesn't. All I'm saying is I wouldn't want to have people all over talking about "when x is fired" or "x will be fired". I'd just want my boss to man up/woman up and fire me and not to have coworkers/sources/whoever say "it's coming".

I know you probably don't want to hear this but LSU firing its head basketball coach is not a hot national topic. And there was speculation about Anderson starting in January, so much so, that the AD addressed the media, so no, they didn't get ahead of the story. Anderson just resigned before the season ended not after.

This. I can't fathom why people are so embarrassed by what is transpiring right now. Literally everyone that isn't an LSU fan just saw "Jones to be fired" a few days ago and went on with the their life. You'd think we're a national punch line or something

the irrational hate for alleva only escalated post-O hiring. it's okay to want him replaced but still see things objectively

Not insinuating LSU bball is a national topic. Speculation about Anderson in January? There's been speculation about Johnny since the end of last year when he quit the season - what's your point?
If you think Anderson resigned without some coaxing from the AD, then I've got some great land to sell you. Mizzou did get ahead of the coaching change by talking to the coach before the season ended and agreeing to a deal, face to face. Our incompetent AD has not communicated with our head coach for the last few days and leaves him hanging in the wind (like he did Les) with the leak that his department put out.
It's cowardly and his track record of dealing with "difficult" situations is pretty piss poor and he continues to add to it.

Im by no means an Alleva apologist at this point, but I don't see why we can't just scrutinize him for his actual frick ups as opposed to fabricating them.

The world, unfortunately, is littered with people who believe things like "we'll be better without Ben Simmons." Perhaps more unfortunately, in a small number of cases, some of those people become athletic directors.
