The Johnny Jones era is officially over. LSU has fired its 21st basketball coach, a source told Tiger Rag. Athletic director Joe Alleva has scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. Friday.

It's a god damn freaking miracle

I'm not in the business of hiring and firing but I wish they would just do it if they're going to do it and then announce it. Let media outlets and fans speculate but enough of "sources"

Why can't we ever just do things normally?

What does it matter if it's today or tomorrow?

This wasn't that abnormal.

So who did Alleva meet with today? Short flights to Chattanooga & Johnson City.

Where's that clown at who kept posting he wouldn't be fired until the tournament was over not when LSU was eliminated

So when we fired Les Miles it wasn't "classy" and now we Alleva wants to wait to meet with Jones in person and it's still not the right way. I'd love to get a consensus from our fans on the correct way to fire someone

Yeah it does. It means he'll be fired tomorrow, with a reason why it didn't happen today, so the chicken littles can stop crying about why hasn't he been fired yet.

Alleva needs to check his staffs' cell phones Sean Spicer-style. The AD's office leaks info like a sieve.

It's really quite simple, smartass...
We'd like the firing to take place first by a proactive athletic director...and THEN we'd like to read about it on the internet.
Anything else isn't fair to the coaches, players, administration or fans. It's just a bunch of journalists trying to be the first to break a story

Alleva definitely leaked this since Hanagriff and others were acting like he was nailing Johnny to the cross.

Internet is always going to report things before an official release is made or are you new to the year 2017. And waiting 36 hours to fire someone is not procrastinating

Quit letting the damn media get ahold of it before it actually happens. The LSU brand has been drug through the dirt in the national media for the last 2 years because of this type of crap and it is a disgrace. Whether or not you listen or watch espn, or care what they say, that is what 99% of Americans get their sports news from. ESPN is the one saying LSU is handling this incorrectly which all the high school kids and their parent see and listen to.
