South Carolina fans warmed us about Braswell. He’s below average at the plate and is average in the field. Not the kind of player we need at the starting ss position at LSU. He couldn’t hit terrible pitching this weekend

Jay may sit each of them at some point over the next 4 games against Northern Illinois and Stony Brook. We have that kind of depth. Jay is not telling anyone anything about the lineup yet with his adjustments. He has the luxury of looking at different things while not sacrificing a REALLY good chance to win with whoever he puts out there.

3B - Why not give Nippolt a bit more run if he could be a defensive replacement? Or, get a look at somebody else? Tommy White is the starter. The end.
SS - Why not give Milam (or Nippolt or Kuch) a game there? Braswell is your guy. Jay isn't putting an unknown at SS when conference starts.
OF - Why not give Bingham a break to look more at Frey or Ruddell or Larson or whoever? Mac is a starter. The end.

I know he’s not done making adjustments and I don’t think his lineups today really mean anything about what they will be during SEC play. But I also don’t think Jay likes to sit guys that are everyday starters just because, I think he does it for a reason. Guys like Crews, Tre, and Tommy weren’t getting days off last year to give other guys more PT.

Can’t sit Pearson, dude was an Omaha starter and LSU doesn’t win the Natty without him

Johnson will sit whomever isn't playing well, he's proven that.

The issue with SS is Nippolt isn't a SS and Milam has had some growing pains at 2B, would be a stretch to think he could handle SS full-time.

Braswell is Jay's project. And is easily the best option defensively at SS.

I don't completely disagree, but we weren't this deep last year.

And he hit our own pitching staff as well any hitter in the fall scrimmages.

He didn’t have a good weekend at the plate, but I’m not going to give up on him after 4 games, and neither will Jay.

The only thing I worry about Braswell is his head space. Thompson was ice water, no matter what happened. I know he hurt inside and when he was away from the field, but he showed up brand new every day. Jay/staff will just have to stick with Braswell on the mental journey. Hell, Thompson will probably be chatting with him if he already isn't. SS at LSU is a big damn deal.

I mean he had the yips in 22'.

but ya for the most part reliable over the course of his careers.

SS is hard to play.

I just meant that Thompson didn't really show his emotions. Braswell has seemed visibly frustrated at times. You just have to turn the page. Everybody's different in how they go about things, though.

Unless Milam cools down, I don't see Pearson playing second. That means Pearson is going to have to be in the outfield. Kling and Bingham are locks in the outfield. This makes me think it's going to be Pearson versus Brown for the last outfield spot.

As to Braswell I saw a lot of contact not whiffs but I don't have the stats.

And how was his fielding? I don't remember a lot of E's.

Milazzo is leading the team in BA .750. I think he has earned a shot at SS when Neal is catching and Travinski is DH.

Got to be trolling. dude has 4 ABs only and was a liability at the plate last year.

i must have watched different baseball then you after neal got hurt. milazzo couldnt do shite at the end of SEC play and into post

28 hits with 23 SOs and only 15 rbis

There was a reason we rushed Trav back in to hit while he was hurt during CWS.

So far I've seen 4 locks. White, Trav, Neal, and Milam.

Bingham and Brown too imo.

I need to see more of Milam’s arm, but what I see after 1 weekend, more than likely he takes SS at some point if the arm is there.
