his injury didn't help his situation either

This. I think AJ would make a terrific coach given who he's learning from and having gone through so much adversity as a player. His experience and leadership would make for an outstanding high school head or college position coach.

I don't think Choctaw has a mirror in his house.

Whatever the reason, the point stands that he couldn't take over, with chances of doing so. He simply wasnt ready. Every player on that team was playing through an injury.

This kid was always raw, if he wasnt, he would have been a 5*. It was good for him not to have to start last year. I think he will be great when he puts it together, that day just hasnt come yet. Hopefully that day comes sooner than later, he just needs to learn he doesn't (and wont be with #7 behind him) need to be the best player on the field. This is lsu not la tech.

Right. The guy came from basically an Auburn offense in high school where they didn't call plays, they just ran options off a few things. Learning how to be under center, call plays, adjust after seeing a defense, and then reading the defense as it adjusts to you is all part of his "not knowing the playbook."

I didn't upvote him or anything, but lets be honest here: If you can't beat out Anthony Jennings after his dismal performances, then you are not good enough and should transfer.

If we have just a semblance of a passing game, i.e. -
sideline and bubble screens, look-ins to TEs, crossing patterns and button hooks and sideline routes to Dural and Quinn, alley-oops and fades to Dupre, wheel routes to Leonard and Guice, screens to Williams and Ducre, maybe a few post patterns to Ty Johnson and Dupre.........this will all open up the running game for buga, Wms, Guice and Ducre to RUN WILD.
The you ALSO have the threat of Brandon Harris running!
I hate the term 'game manager'.

But, I think the 2015 LSU offense hinges on ONE position(s).
And it's not QB.

If we have a dominant, intimidating, pancaking, athletic and 4th-quarter make'em-give-up Offensive Line, the freaking sky is the limit......

And if our D can cause turnovers and give the offense good field position, so much the better..........

Fans may be ignorant but they are not making five mil a year to put it on display.

Who has had a worse record of QB recruiting and development besides MIles and Muschamp?

Harris seems so smart and articulate, I refuse to believe that the reason he can't see the field is due to memory of playbook. Too smart for that

Just because someone can speak well in front of a camera does not mean they are capable of learning an entire playbook in their freshman season. Harris himself admitted to not knowing the playbook and not being able to call the right plays.

I do not care who starts at Qb as long as they are improved from last year.

This part of your post, I agree with the most. We struggled a lot last year creating turnovers. We were given multiple shots too.. Ole Miss isn't as close if we don't have 4 dropped INT's.

We have to create turnovers.

"Not knowing the playbook" is pretty accurate actually.

Turning the wrong way on a handoff is not lack of execution, it's lack of knowledge of the play that has been called. That said, he seems like a bright kid. So learning the book is an easy issue to correct.

I literally just opened up the Byrd game his senior year on Hudl and saw him under center.

But, whatever.

What? Where do you people find this stuff? Our QB's don't call their own plays! This isn't the NFL with a seasoned vet at QB!

The bottom line is Les has his guys at QB. Always has, and always will. EVERYONE knows his stubbornness with sticking with his type of guy, to the level of creating a point of contention over it with his OC/QB coach's. Jennings was left in games several times last year, when Cam wanted to go with Harris, just to save Jennings mentally, and was overruled on each occasion by you know who.

Les would love nothing more than to run smash mouth every play of every game and never need to pass. He has not and will not evolve with the game. He doesn't know how. Guys like Jennings run practice/games Lester's way, which is safe, and trying not to make a mistake. Harris knows the playbook, but it's in his nature/instinct to try to make things happen, and will his team to score on pretty much every play. He has much of what the greats usually always possess, that WILL to drive his team, and never be out of a game when there is time on the clock.

Les likes to keep control of this position, and forces the players at this position to do it his way only, or you don't see the field. Unfortunately, his way can only work at this level when you have such a powerful running game that you can just "manage" the offense, which is unrealistic in today's SEC game. This flaw of his will ultimately be his demise.

Why would you expect to understand it? Coaches are making their decisions based on information that we don't have.

My guess is that AJ looks more impressive in practice than BH. The thing is that it doesn't translate to games all that well as of yet.

But I imagine it's really tough as a coach to go with the QB that looks worse in practice, even though he may show flashes of brilliance in the actual game.

There were so many times last year when it was mind boggling as to why he never even gave Harris a chance to see the field.

He sprained his ankle against auburn. Other than Arkansas, the games were close. Yeah Harris could have made some plays, or we see the 3/14 Harristurning the wrong way on handoffs, 3 of those wins could have turned to losses. The coaches did the rt thing.
