Anyone got a link to the Brandon Harris interview this morning with Tim Fletcher? Supposedly he was VERY confident about seeing the field sooner than later this year.

At this point I think it's just as likely he isn't at LSU in August as it is he is the starting QB.

I can't watch that for some reason, but harris typically gives damn good interviews...seems like a very smart and articulate young man...

you are my god! Thanks!

Harris seems so smart and articulate, I refuse to believe that the reason he can't see the field is due to memory of playbook. Too smart for that

"I want to be the starting quarterback at LSU. It's that simple."

Gotta download soundcloud
Man he interviews well! Hope that talk moves to action on the field this year. Really pulling for him. LSU really needs that confident leader at QB type that he portrays.

The reason he hasnt seen the field is that he relies on his athleticism rather than learning and trusting the system play to play.

"Not knowing the playbook" is a simplified reason for his problems. Im sure he knows the plays, I just dont think the coaches trust him to execute. If he ever learns that he wont be the star of this team, he could be dangerous.

I just don't understand why they have all this trust in Jennings. What is the end result if Harris takes chances and they don't pay off? A loss. What is the result if Jennings doesn't take any chances and isn't productive? A loss. I rather the guy who gives us a chance.

I'm inclined to agree with this. My biggest issue with Miles is not clock management or anything else, it's the way he manages QB's when there's anything other than a clear cut starter. At minimum he should be giving Harris competitive game time series when Jennings struggles. There were so many times last year when it was mind boggling as to why he never even gave Harris a chance to see the field.

I think this team is poised to be VERY good if the offense can show some semblance of legitimate balance and competent QB play. Watching the offense last year was painful and frustrating given the talent all across the board on this team. If the QB's are neck and neck, rotate them a few game series. The upside to Harris when/if the light comes on is clearly higher than Jennings. This team has the receiving corps that can really strain defenses. To not have a QB that can get them the ball all over the field would be a travesty.

This.

I think both Harris and Jennings know the playbook just fine.

Jennings is limited physically with his arm strength, and Harris has the tools but is incredibly inaccurate with his passes.

I'm not. I think Harris has the better upside and that AJ is not an SEC caliber QB. He's good, and can be a capable backup. He has phenomenal leadership skills and attitude, but I see him ultimately as a player who may take the coaching route later on in his career. At this level Harris cannot rely on athleticism alone. We may have won another game possibly two with him doing that, but then we'd be complaining about how you can't spell Les Miles without two L's. This is a team sport and the best quarterback's understand that, especially when they are surrounded by the talent LSU has. Harris running the offense rather than improvising will help him and LSU.

Cliff Notes - I'd rather lose an extra two games last year in what was going to be a down year anyway and have Harris undergo the maturation he needs to realize his potential.

I think if you truly look at how the two played last year objectively, we would have had more losses with Harris. The question is, would that have helped or hurt us this coming season, going something like 6-6 with the qb you are going to have start the next 3 years?

I think the trap a lot of people fall into is thinking last year will be the exact same treatment, but there are other factors at play, and I personally think the stakes are a lot higher. Last year was good for a young team, had some tough wins as well as tough losses, they learned how to battle and how tough the SEC is.

At any rate, this offense runs through fournette until he leaves, the coaches want they guy that facilitates that the best in their eyes.

Also, I think it has always been that they dont trust harris, more than they trust Jennings.

This is Brandons job to lose. He was in the gameplan more in game 1 than game 10, that should tell you something. They gave him the keys in the first road game as well, its not like they are trying to shut him out like ppl claim on this board. They gave him a chance last year, and if you couldn't see he was clearly not ready then you need to watch the games with more objectivity (watch other games besides LSU, and not just the top teams).

I really think both guys step up this year and put us in a solid position to make a run. My guess is Jennings starts, Harris comes along and actually earns some playing time by his own merit, not by default.
