Booger M. told Miles he drove a Mercedes(Team) like a Yugo
Posted by Enadious on 2/1/17 at 8:12 am22713
Listening to 104.5, Mcfarland was on for his Wednesday spot. Spent a good amount of time of talking about the importance of getting LA kids to LSU and that it's more about the relationship between the player and position coach, not the head coach. Said he didn't care for Dinardo. Two position coaches sold him on LSU.
Booger didn't hold back one bit and spoke in such an honest way that I found quite refreshing. One of the talking heads pointed that out, and he told a story about a conversation he had with Les last year. Les asked him why he was the most vocal in his criticism of his coaching. Booger let him know that Les was underachieving with the talent he was in charge of. "Les, you're driving a Mercedes like it's a Yugo. Let the players play. Let them have fun. College is supposed to be fun."
Great segment worthy of listening to on the podcast.

firing Miles? well, Booger didn't care when or where it happened. He just wanted Miles gone.

I used to work with Booger when I was a kid, I was 12-13 and he was playing at LSU. He would come home and work for my uncle chopping wood, driving tractors, etc. I would gladly help. He was always a straight shooter back then too. My uncle gave him a pep talk right before signing day and told Booger he was making a decision that would affect the rest of his life, whether football worked for him or not...Glad he chose the Tigers!

I went to the Bayou Bash in 1998 (Booger's Senior year) and Gerry DiNardo got up on stage and he was explaining why recruiting was so important.
"Booger is a great player now, but after this season, Booger's not going to be a Booger anymore."
This comment drew a huge applause, but even at a young age I thought, "No sh*t." I don't recall any other quotes because it's been 19 years, but that's how the remainder of the speech flowed. He spoke to this great fan base as if we had no knowledge of college football and how the complexities of this system was "too much for our feeble minds, so let me ramble at the most basic level."

I'll never forget having a conversation with Chris Samuels after they lost to Auburn on the kick six. He said there was absolutely 0 discrepancy in talent between LSU and Bama. It all came down to coaching. He said it could just as easily be LSU instead of Bama in terms of dominance if you just switched the coaches on the sidelines.

dude certainly made a lot of enemies on this board over the years...but in the end he was proven correct.
He was? I'm sorry, but none of you jackasses were proven correct. Y'all can bang your chest when O actually wins the sec West. Les did it in his first season. Let's see how long it takes da coach eaux.

How Orgeron performs has absolutely nothing to do with whether Les needed to be fired. If Orgeron never wins another game, firing Les was the right thing to do. Les Miles ran a powerhouse program into 2nd-tier status. Orgeron being better or worse won't change the fact that Les needed to go.

Hmmm. I wonder what's different about the SECW in 2005 vs now. Just one "small" thing, I'm sure.

Because LSU has signed as many 5* players as Alabama does? Or because LSU has had the #1 recruiting classes for like 7 years in a row?

LSU was just one year removed from winning a NC when Les took over. We are currently 10 years from the last NC, due to one inconvenient fact: Les Miles

He's full of shite.
quote:Yea I love our LSU players and that they chose to go to LSU. That said, I do not think either of our lines could play for Bama. I know for sure we dont have some of that talent at LB and DL .

That is a damn impressive to remember that after so long.

Yeah what would he know? He was only on Bama's coaching staff at the time.

Booger has only turned traitor and harmed the team he claimed to love ,he is one of the reasons we lose some of our best recruits to bama !

I'm good with Booger he helped bring back the Magic, and he tells it how it is.
