LSU was just one year removed from winning a NC when Les took over. We are currently 10 years from the last NC, due to one inconvenient fact

Alabama did not have Saban in 2005, Alabama has Saban now. That's the primary difference.

Saban built LSU up to a Top 10 program (really top 20 with one national title included, so split the difference). Miles had kept the program at a top 10 level.

The biggest difference is that when Saban first built LSU up, the competition within the SEC was against Auburn and Georgia, two other teams on equal levels. Top 10 level teams. Now, every team in the conference has to deal with Alabama, which is on an unprecedented run.

Because LSU has signed as many 5* players as Alabama does? Or because LSU has had the #1 recruiting classes for like 7 years in a row?

Because LSU puts as much or more talent into the NFL as Bama.

Les did it with Saban's players and the attitude instilled in them by Saban.

You have to understand some of our fans have been brainwashed and worship that clown but you're absolutely right. We were setup to be the next dynasty after Miami and USC and the bridge to the bama dynasty and he squandered that chance and talent away. Nobody in history wasted more talent there are articles written about this. I think some of our fans watched bad football for so long that they forgot what good football looks like. Les has done more damage than most will ever know.

never forget having a conversation with Chris Samuels after they lost to Auburn on the kick six. He said there was absolutely 0 discrepancy in talent between LSU and Bama.

Well he was wrong.

He said it could just as easily be LSU instead of Bama in terms of dominance if you just switched the coaches on the sidelines.

Yeah the coaches and the players. Bama has easily been more talented than lsu since 2013.
Bama 2016 class alone is almost bigger than lsu's last 2 classes combined.
Bama has more players in their front 7 with 1st rd grades than lsu's entire team this year.

Not since 2013. We had 4 players drafted last year. 5 the year before.

The talent in the sec west is far better now than when Saban was at lsu. Saban never once faced a sec team that went on to play in the national title while he was at lsu. In his 5 years at lsu saban faced 1 west team that finished in the top 10.
In miles last 5 years there were 6 sec west programs with at least 1 top 10 finish and the 7th program had a 12th place finish.

Wow, don't weight the argument in your favor okay! When Les won his first SEC West Saban wasn't at Bama and they hadn't become the dominant team in the country let alone the SEC. I think Coach O does a great job with two losses next year and a good one with three. Four will be a disappointment. Everyone needs to remember that we lost a lot of great players and will be plugging young guys in there without much playing experience. That together with a new OC and it will take awhile before they are running on all cylinders.

Booger is a hardcore Saban supporter, he was one of his players and will always support him. Not sure he's ever said anything nice about Les because Les isn't Saban

Holy shite, i hope youre joking. 3 losses is what got Miles fired and now its a good season?
bullshite.we have 2 of the best coordinators in cfb, if we lose 3 games next year it isnt a good season.

Oh well my point stands, thought he was on that 99 team but apparently he was drafted. He has never said anything positive about Les during his time at LSU.

Yeah what would he know? He was only on Bama's coaching staff at the time.

Imagine a member of the coaching staff saying the difference was all in the coaching. Literally every single observer agrees that Alabama has signed better talent than anybody in the country for at least five or six years in a row. To suggest that there is no difference in talent between Alabama and anybody, but especially between Alabama and a team that hasn't finished in the top ten or played in a top tier bowl in six years, is frankly ludicrous. I'd be surprised if Mr. Samuels could point to a single Alabama starter and say that he would be benched if the guy from LSU at that position were available.

Booger graduated before Saban ever got there.
